The worry of inflation would feel more easily handled if it was addressed as price gouging or monopoly, for which laws are in place.  When it is labeled as inflation, the predatory behavior can be hidden behind the curtain of the wizard.  This is one reason one is charmed by the adorable presumption as discussed on C-Span this week, that ubiquitous monitoring of the US public for anxiety should become commonplace.  A better policy would be for competent governance that doesn’t undermine Americans and contribute to anxiety. read more

C-Span hosted a discussion about immigrants at the Southern Border, and within these discussions one will hear the phrase “people fleeing communism”.   As one who recognizes communism and capitalism to be opposite sides of the coin of hierarchical privilege, we could look at both sides of this topic.  Otherwise indoctrination seems to be the point.

https://popularresistance.org/decolonizing-the-mind/       –Yet anyone who questions the monarchy’s role as part of the western axis of domination is rarely given access to media, making it difficult to be free of propaganda that is used to elicit fealty to monarchs, presidents and the people and institutions who empower them. From childhood we are taught that invaders of other nations, enslavers, and colonizers are worthy of respect and admiration. Centuries of criminality are passed off as benign and we are admonished to remember that the criminals in question were “products of their time” and are to be thought of with fond reverence.

From popularresistance info–https://popularresistance.org/a-socialist-take-on-the-womens-march-convention/   —  The form of “intersectionality” promoted by non-profits conveniently forgets that we live in a capitalist system that profits from all forms of oppression. While rhetorically they claim to unite our struggles, in reality they’ve kept these struggles separate in the streets; the unity of our struggles is manifested for them at the polls and in the Democratic Party.

A feminism that wants to grasp our problems at the root should understand that all systems of oppression are currently inscribed within capitalism — and capitalism is a system that profits from all of our oppression. It’s a system that can only run due to the exploitation of workers — with the most exploited sectors being workers who are Black, Brown, and from the global South — for the profit of the very few.

A railroad strike would promote an immediate spike in inflation.  Here’s a thought…..reports recently suggest the social security COLA won’t be as respectable as was once assumed because “inflation is moderating”.  One has always been a bit ambivalent about unions because they seem to be another set-up for just another hierarchical cronyism.  If we really supported a free market, unions would be irrelevant.  All of these details aren’t lost on politicians, industry and union leaders.  A cynical person might believe the darling railroad-strike aversion put into place in the last hours, was kicking the can down the road long enough to sneak through a lower COLA for social security for elder Americans.

In recent decades, the open floodgates of direct marketing of anything and everything to kids has become a half-trillion-dollar annual business. Every mode of seduction, manufactured peer group pressure and minute psychological profiling is delivered by highly-paid promoters, packagers and influencers.

Claire has long believed that if you have low expectations for Tweens, they will oblige you, but if you have high expectations, they will surprise you. Her book offers suggestions that encourage communing with nature, enrich family discussions, appreciate the wisdom of the ancients, and to use proverbs to extend the ability of children to concentrate.

From RAN.org  —  The Consumer Goods Forum exists to help corporations like Procter & Gamble, Mondelēz and Nestlé reduce their negative environmental and human rights impacts. Sounds good, right?

What’s not good is when the Consumer Goods Forum turns a blind eye to corporate members who engage in violence against Indigenous peoples. We plan to corner the Consumer Goods Forum at NYC Climate Week later this month and demand accountability for violence against Indigenous peoples — please lend us your signature.

Consumer Goods Forum member Asia Pulp and Paper has used physical violence, intimidation and food crop destruction to displace several Indigenous and traditional communities like the Sakai People and Lubuk Mandarsah from their land  in Indonesia. This company has one of the worst human rights track records.

When we told the Consumer Goods Forum about Asia Pulp and Paper’s acts of violence, they ignored us — help us shout it this time.

It’s simply inexcusable for the Consumer Goods Forum to allow its members to use the forum in bad faith, as a way to greenwash serious environmental and human rights violations.

Help us demand at NYC Climate Week that the Consumer Goods Forum adopt a policy of zero-tolerance toward corporate members who use violence.—end of RAN.org info—

Biden ‘splains “core inflation” to America, in which the inflation rate is 0%, considering the price of somethings went up while the price of other things went down.  For example, cheaper are diamonds, yachts, foreign boarding schools, and high-end vehicles.  Unfortunately food, gasoline, day care, housing, health care  and family vehicles are priced out of availability for the average consumer.   (This isn’t necessarily a quote but more nearly a paraphrase dripping with sarcasm…and yes the use of sarcasm implies derision) read more

A reason some people support 3rd-Party participation in political campaigns is that both of the duopoly Democratic and Republican are mouthpieces for capitalistic hierarchical Establishment and with Citizens United it can be mentioned that money is more of a motivating factor to these political corporations than is policy.

Toward the end of this discussion you can read about the censorship that seems apparent from political Parties that have taken control of Presidential debates from The League of Women Voters that in the past provided diversity.  Not only is censorship a problem kept in place by efforts of the R&D duopoly, but ballot access is also nearly impossible for many 3rd-Party candidates.

https://peoplesparty.org/were-suing-florida-for-ballot-access/ –The Democrats and Republicans together have hurled this country into crushing inflation, mass homelessness, endless war, and growing authoritarianism. Every American has the right to vote against the establishment parties and for third party candidates who don’t answer to their billionaire donors. But in state after state, the increasingly unpopular corporate parties are trying to entrench their advantage with laws meant to suppress third parties and deny millions of Americans the right to vote for them.
