And how does this get around to the topic on C-Span this morning of a nomination to the Supreme Court?  The open forum heard many callers on nomination of a Supreme Court Justice.  A caller reminded of an interesting FACT, which is unverified, but easily checked.  He said that 6 of the conservative Justices are Roman Catholic.  While the topic of race predominates as to who should be the nest Supreme Court Justice nomination, the matter of religion hasn’t been broached.  
With a Pope with the power to excommunicate US bureaucrats, this seems of interest.  The USA isn’t supposed to be a theocracy, but sometime it feels like a theocracy buoyed by an oligarchy.  If politics didn’t enter into Supreme Court decisions, personal religious affiliation wouldn’t enter into the discussion.  But politics is ensconced on our Supreme Court currently.

A black woman on the Supreme Court is a FACT a long time arriving.  Perhaps without misogyny we would have Anita Hill as a Supreme Court Justice rather than Clarence Thomas.  But just now and due to politics as a team sport, that Joe Biden was shoe-horned into the Presidency by Jim Clyburn, and that both are Party animals, by its own volition cast shadow on the entire process.
Justice Steven Breyer (paraphrase) said that people have come to accept the Constitution.  People have come to accept the rule of law.
This is a saving grace of the USA.  But that the Supreme Court handed down the decision protecting Citizens United that legalized without legitimizing money in elections, we seem to have laws that control We The People while the big-money interest campaign contributions give the power to pass laws to politicians purchased by oligarchy.  
We should be talking about Citizens United and campaign funding.  It isn’t surprising that James Carville speaks to the importance of free and fair elections, but says that anything goes in a campaign.  No it doesn’t.  Corruption is corruption, as supporters of Bernie Sanders are aware.
