MYOPIC OLIGARCHY
Oligarchy can be defined by myopia.
The mindset was on display on C-Span this morning.https://www.c-span.org/video/?525774-4/washington-journal-michael-gordon-discusses-chinese-military-capabilities-threats-posed-us –FEBRUARY 12, 2023 | PART OF WASHINGTON JOURNAL 02/12/2023

Michael Gordon on Chinese Military Capabilities and Threats Posed to the U.S.
Wall Street Journal national security correspondent Michael Gordon discusses the Biden administration response to Chinese military capabilities and threats posed to the U.S.–end of c-span info–
C-Span—9:30AM–caller—paraphrase–asked about US corporations doing business in China.
guest deflection–paraphrase—commiserated on the topic of Chinese nuclear capabilities
Decades-long globalism based on economic benefits to worldwide oligarchs was possible using deflection. Here are a few examples–
*In a nation manic to “spread democracy around the world”, trade agreements such as TPP that included language that prioritized the rights of multi-national corporations over human rights and environmental rights have been instrumental in the movement of globalism as promoted by politicians bought into public office via Citizens United corruption
*Reduction of US-employee wages resulted in poverty lifestyle by many families and expands to reductions in social security contributions by both employers and employees that has undermined a system of earned-benefit pensions for the elderly
*Store shelves are too often empty of products necessary for consumers similar to the cold-war joke about communism in the Former USSR
*Foreign-nation control of supply lines are an imminent national security reality
*Bureaucratic and political presumption that the globalism manifesting from the USA has anything to do with democracy seems questionable, and the military expense to promote this system is an imminent national security risk
*Manufacturing in foreign nations means an import unbalance as Trump took advantage to balance his tax beak for the wealthy (more trickle-down) with his Trump tariff that seemed to begin the slippery slope of inflation on the backs of US consumer without a choice to buy American
*A topic of discussion this morning on C-Span has been the US military rumbling that we will soon be at war with China. When you’re a hammer, everything is a nail. But realistically imagine what will happen to the US stock market upon war with China when presumably China, if at war with the USA, would nationalize US corporations in ChinaMeanwhile here at home, Free Press is still experiencing an identity crisis. — https://portside.org/2023-02-11/washington-post-runs-medicare-newsletter-sponsored-insurance-lobby-front-group?utm_source=portside-general&utm_medium=email –But the newspaper’s ostensibly neutral, both-sides coverage of the high-stakes healthcare fight was interspersed with ads purchased by the Coalition for Medicare Choices, an innocuously named organization that serves as a front group for the private insurance industry’s powerful lobbying group, America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).
