Joe Biden. Biden, through a spokesperson, has denied the allegations. Reade has claimed to various media outlets, including The Intercept, that she told her mother, a close friend, and her brother about both the harassment and, to varying degrees of detail, the assault at the time. Her brother, Collin Moulton, and her friend, who has asked to remain anonymous, both confirmed that they heard about the allegations from Reade at the time. Reade’s mother died in 2016, but both her brother and friend also confirmed Reade had told her mother, and that her mother, a longtime feminist and activist, urged her to go to the police.

Some women were around in the ’60’s and ’70’s when the label Feminist needed to catch up with the real-life involvement of women. Similar to the requirement to change laws about abortion because women were controlling their own bodies and lives anyway, so needed a label to be attached to the independence of the time and place.  

The fashion of claiming such civil and human rights by political Parties as we have watched do from the Republican/Democratic duopoly, is symptomatic of loss of democracy which, as heard on a Bill Moyers Show, is done by people, not government.

FACTually speaking, while one hears about the men during the Vietnam War era, and their deeply real struggles in fighting for capitalism in Asia, the life of women of the time has been either ignored or denigrated.  At a time when the path for women was ostensibly marriage and children, what was happening as marriageable young men were drafted and returned war-hardened?  Feminism didn’t come along to scoop up and save said women.  Women were fighting for their lives in their own place, and lived independence before a label was attached.  One can attest that it took years for one to have the epiphany that one had been a Feminist.  In 2022 one embraces the label.

In 2020, similar to use of the civil rights movement of the ’60’s, the Democratic/Republican duopoly used women in campaign strategies.  Feminism in 2020 was abused in a patriarchal system that used women……and to coin the phrase used by campaign strategists in 2020…..especially white women……to sway voters without the memory about which they decried.  

Political Parties have crowded out democratic action for self-promotion.
