HUMANITY AND NATURE ON CAPITALISM

HUMANITY AND NATURE ON CAPITALISM

In the Southern Tier of NYS, apparently the culmination of the Bunn Hill Rd.citizen/oligarch dust up over a development project begun under a previous Administration in Vestal, NY..  Revoltingly in NYS, tradition implies that development project will be slipped past local citizens to the extent that when said citizens learn the violation of human rights and natural rights have been discovered, the authoritarian excuse is that “it’s too late to stop this now”.

These casts of characters require ongoing scrutiny by We The People.  Sadly in Vestal, NY, the previous Administration wasn’t recognized for their character or lack thereof, until the damage was accomplished.  Oligarchy rules.

House Speaker Mike Johnson to travel to Binghamton for event with Rep. Molinaro

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., will travel to Binghamton Thursday for an event with Republican U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro focused on law enforcement funding and public safety.

The Thursday meeting will be at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and is said to feature sheriff’s deputies, neighboring law enforcement, other first responders and families.

Johnson’s trip comes as Molinaro seeks reelection in the 19th Congressional District. Broome County is the most-populous county there and could play a large role in in the upcoming election. Molinaro is being challenged by Democrat Josh Riley, who is from Endicott, a village just outside Binghamton. Molinaro flipped the seat in 2022, defeating Riley by about 4,500 votes.

One would think this is a matter for the judicial system, however in Broome County bureaucrats and politicians seem to enjoy a pay-to-play ol’-boy-network that is proof against integrity.

Controversial ‘Retreat at Bunn Hill’ plans to move forward——–

VESTAL (WBNG) — The years-long conversation of the future of the “Retreat at Bunn Hill” housing project is apparently over. That’s according to work-session minutes for the Vestal Town Board on Monday.

At the start of April, the Vestal Town Board announced a survey to get resident’s opinions on the project. Monday night’s minutes state that Town Supervisor Maria Sexton said a majority of the surveys came back that they were not in favor of the project and were hoping to reverse the Planned Development District.

A seriously interesting book is The Founding Gardeners: How the… book by Andrea Wulf

From the bestselling author of The Invention of Nature, a fascinating look at the Founding Fathers like none you’ve seen before.“Illuminating and engrossing…. The reader relives the first decades of the Republic … through the words of the statesmen themselves.” —The New York Times Book Review

—-end of Founding Gardeners info—–

One doesn’t normally view the Founders as conservationists, but the above book indicates that at least Washington, Jefferson and especially Madison were.  The following is from Madison, a most dedicated conservationist who was a Republican, and seems to far exceed in thoughtfulness of modern day Republicans.  Please consider the concepts of Madison—-Animals, plants, and their environments were in equilibrium, Madison realized, and brilliantly linked these ideas to Priestly’s and Ingenhousz’s theories of plant respiration.  Animals respired air that was “unfitted for their further uses”, he explained, but plants reversed the process.  If the whole class of plants were extinguished, Madison concluded, animals would not survive, as they were dependent upon each other.  —end of excerpt from the book—

The point was made that Republicans adhered to protection of nature and farms, as juxtaposed against, for example, John Adams who advocated for commercial interests and money changers.  Republicans of that era understood that commercial interests and money changers could lead to corruption in the fiber of the new Constitutional Republic.

In 2024, Republicans cling to the traditional relationship with Founders without the authenticity of principle, it would seem.

A bone of contention in my little world has been the corruption legalized without being legitimized in our electoral process by Citizens United.  C-Span hosted a discussion on the topic of campaign funds used as legal bribery.—

Dan Weiner on Campaign 2024 Fundraising and Money in Politics

Daniel Weiner talked about campaign 2024 fundraising and the broader role of money in American politics.

—end of danweiner info–Republican Founder Madison made the point that what happens to nature devolves onto humanity.  We see this in the Hamas/Israel War.

Intertwined financially in this fiasco, seems to be American Executive Branch members wallowing in self-interest and in one person’s view, immature greed.  Kushner praises Gaza’s “valuable” waterfront property, says Israel should push Palestinians out  —

Here’s What Jared Kushner Said About Gaza’s Waterfront Property—And Where It’s Been Said Before—

OPLINE

Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is facing criticism over comments he made at a February talk at Harvard University, where he said Gaza’s waterfront property could be “very valuable” and Israel could “move the people out, and then clean it up,” but he maintains that he was merely lamenting on the lack of investment for Palestinians in Gaza—a concern others have shared in the past.—end of Kushner inspiration—-

Jared Kushner Gets Petulant Over Question About $2b Saudi Arabia Payment: ‘Are We Really Still Doing This?’ | Video

Donald Trump’s son in law Jared Kushner doesn’t want to talk about the $2 billion he received from a fund led by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2021, two years after the latter approved the murder and dismemberment of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

When faced with a question about the deal during an interview at the Axios BFD conference in Miami on Tuesday, Kushner asked, “Are we really still doing this?”

The concept of John Adams that America needs to follow and cater to commercial interests and money changers works for capitalism, but is harmful to humanity and nature.  Should we discuss?
