CHURCH AND STATE

CHURCH AND STATE

The awkward non-starter idea of “running government like a business” is either preciously naive or evil.

The rhetoric that businessmen know what they’re doing is questionable.

Boeing CEO, other executives stepping down amid safety crisis—- “As you all know, the Alaska Airlines Flight 128

2 accident was a watershed moment for Boeing,” he wrote. “We must continue to respond to this accident with humility and complete transparency. We also must inculcate a total commitment to safety and quality at every level of our company.”

The new governing strategies tried out by Conservatives and white Christian Nationalists seems cover for capitalistic replacement of American democracy.  Somebody said to  “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”  This seems to be someone with the insight to know that governing and religion are different, and best kept separate.  It seems the all-too human impulse toward exploitation of humanity that is inherent in capitalism is at play in today’s brave new Christian nationalism.

This may be a reason the less arrogant and ignorant Founders trended away from authoritarianism in the US Constitution.  A principle in governing as found in precepts from the Founders is separation of church and state.  And by the way, now that we have eschewed this principle, and if the Conservatives are so serious about the national debt, the answer is to tax religious institutions that could easily pay off the national debt.  Since taxpayer funds seem quasi-church tithing at this point, this only seems equitable.

Do tell, Mr. Carville, who wouldn’t be described as screechy (pertaining to the following link).  If women could count on a modicum of safety on a number of topics, perhaps we would be more ladylike and less screechy.  In the meantime, from sense of survival, cover your ears.  Too many women, and men too, for that matter, have played the game of oligarchs for too long.  The price is violation of human rights….and yes, please eat your peas, Mr. Carville…..we all care a flying feather……

Carville: ‘Too many preachy females’ are ‘dominating the culture of the Democratic Party’– “A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females … ‘Don’t drink beer, don’t watch football, don’t eat hamburgers, this is not good for you,’” he said. “The message is too feminine: ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet. You’ve got to eat your peas.’”

Police believe the woman in her 50s was stabbed by two kids who immediately fled the scene. The woman was in critical condition as of Sunday, officials said.

A 12-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault, and he was brought into custody. A 7-year-old also allegedly involved was not charged, as the minimum age for criminal charges is 10-years-old in Texas.

The level of threat to women in the USA is subhuman, not only from little boys, but from the system of misogyny that may precipitate feminine screeching.  Mr. Carville, begin with the results of toxic masculinity rather than with the resultant screeching.  The human rights violations against women are intolerable.  And yes, please eat your peas, we really care.

I’m surprised but gratified by Mrs. Martin’s choice of canned rather than dry beans.  To bring this back to division of church and state, a good meal is about as close to spiritual as it gets.  Perhaps this is what Jesus tried to connote in the Last Supper.  He was not in the Temple talking about politics.  That seems as awkward as the Sunday School crew now pretending to governance in Congress.  They aren’t similar things.

But back to the beans, cooking canned beans for 1/12 hours and then longer to cook the pasta makes one nervous.  One will experiment.

And by the way, it’s not a church, it’s not a business…..itis government.  Let’s get real.
