In what felt like a justification for supposing sexual autonomy for women in the ’60’s, said MSM mouthpiece informed that the birth control pill was developed in 1960.

Sure enough, memory served.  In the ’60’s, one woman was merrily functioning on the rhythm method, which is an exciting form of birth control, in particular at a time when abortion wasn’t prevalent as it later became.

And actually such ‘splaining from the glib ignorant set who are losing their reproductive rights is a bit irksome.

Apparently married couples were permitted use of the birth control pill to a certain extent was the responsibility of male guidance in the partnership.  As someone explained to me at the time, to permit a birth control pill to single women would encourage bad behavior.  This was the same time in which women were not permitted credit without a co-signing husband.

This was also an era in which domestic violence was considered a private matter.

So yes, young MSM lovely, there was a birth control pill in the ’60’s, but you surely haven’t the capacity to understand; so please act and speak accordingly.

Indigenous Americans also have much to inform, if any will listen——From lakotalaw  —  When I got together with some friends a few years back to help amplify the landback movement, I could never have foreseen this week’s war of words between South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and an ice cream company — and yet, here we are! I’m guessing you’re familiar with Ben & Jerry’s, who make delicious desserts; more importantly, they use their business platform to champion social justice issues. This year for the Fourth of July, they posted on their website asking people to sign our Lakota Law petition and commit to returning the Black Hills — and Noem’s beloved Mt. Rushmore — to the Lakota.

Noem wasn’t the only one to pitch a fit in response. Just as they did when Anheuser-Busch dared to feature a trans person in a Bud Light social media campaign during this year’s Pride Month, conservative activists immediately began calling for a boycott. Outrageously, publicly hating on trans and Indigenous people — saying the quiet part out loud — has become all the rage for the far right in the summer of 2023. 

At least there’s a silver lining to all the idiocy. The more anti-woke rabble rousers embrace the idea of canceling things they disagree with, the more their hypocrisy shows. The more they put their bigotry on display, the more they drive reasonable people into the progressive camp. And by coming after Ben & Jerry’s, Noem and her ilk actually amplified our very important message about Native justice and sovereignty, ensuring it showed up in another national news cycle.

So today we send our deep appreciation to Ben & Jerry’s and to you for helping us make a difference in the world. Let’s keep the discussion going and the pressure on. I pray that, one fine day, the Black Hills will be back where they belong: in Indigenous care!

One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?

Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
