The cash sent overseas to “save democracy” would be better used to uplift We The People.  Knowledge is power and the American people possess neither.

https://popularresistance.org/the-new-york-times-has-been-friendly-to-nazis-for-80-years/    –Back in 2019, an Australian white supremacist murdered 49 people in New Zealand. As discussed this week by Fairness And Accuracy in Reporting, at the time, the New York Times correctly reported that “On his flak jacket was a symbol commonly used by the Azov Battalion, a Ukrainian neo-Nazi paramilitary organization….” So, at least in 2019, the New York Times was opposed to Neo-Nazis. How good of them!

Yet, that has very much changed this year. Just last week, the New York Times wrote of that same neo-Nazi organization: “Commanders of Ukraine’s celebrated Azov Battalion have held an emotional reunion with their families in Turkey, Ukrainian officials said, honoring the fighters released from Russian confinement last month….”

C-Span disappoints in their purported mission of neutrality as a host, as viewed today, has been highlighted on first CNN and then MSNBC.  If neutrality is to be presumed, even on the corporate-media level, it would seem a host prevalent on FOX News should be forthcoming.  Anyway, this morning C-Span presented an opportunity for the host to play the communist card, which seems to be intended to shut down conversation, when a 94-year-old-university professor called to say the propaganda about Cuba is one-sided (paraphrase) and that Fidel Castro was instrumental in removing predatory business interests from Cuba and back to the USA, resulting in a Cuba with a higher literacy rate than the USA, and universal health care.  The obsequious moderator shut down this nonsense from the 94-year-old university professor by reminding communism of Cuba.  You go girl.

The same conversational censorship is worked using the label “socialist”.

Confidence in Indigenous views seems to have originated in the use of principles of the Iroquois Confederacy by The Founders in the US Constitution.  The same people who have maintained a semblance of traditional principles during occupation and colonization by those currently identifying as capitalists, seems to indicate strength and stability that is needed in 2022.  From lakotalaw——-I’ll start with a big wopila to all of you who support Lakota Law and help advance our mission to amplify Native concerns. As you well know, representation matters. That’s why we’ve spent years activating Native voters. It’s also why we’ve organized nonstop over recent weeks to create a massive weekend of voter outreach and cultural connection — Oceti Vote Fest — in Rapid City, S.D. on Oct. 22-23. Getting Native people to embrace participation in democracy isn’t always easy — especially given the long history of broken promises to us from the U.S. government — but it makes a big difference for our communities and for Turtle Island as a whole.

Today, let’s talk about representation on a larger scale, and how Native women, in particular, have stepped up to embrace political leadership at a time when we so clearly need them on the national stage. In case they aren’t yet on your radar, I’ll point you to two ascending Indigenous leaders: Rep. Mary Peltola of Alaska and Lynnette Grey Bull of Wyoming.

Let’s start with Rep. Peltola, a Yup’ik Alaska Native who — as you can see from her title — is currently serving as her state’s first Indigenous congresswoman. She won Alaska’s sole House seat earlier this year in a ranked choice special election. Both of her opponents, former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Nick Begich, whose father and grandfather were both politicians on the national stage, came into the race with far greater name recognition. But thanks to a genuine understanding of the issues and an inclusive and uniquely Alaskan platform of “Fish, Family, and Freedom,” she made history. Now, she’s running for reelection against the same pair.

Lynnette, a candidate for Wyoming’s at-large seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, I know personally. She’s Hunkpapa Lakota (her father is from Standing Rock) and Northern Arapaho (her mother is from the Wind River Reservation). She faces an uphill battle in a traditionally very conservative state. But that hasn’t stopped her from mounting a progressive campaign that highlights issues such as a transition of Wyoming’s energy-based economy to one focused on renewables and addressing the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. Critically, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade, both Lynnette and Rep. Peltola are also committed to reproductive freedom. Both support codifying a woman’s right to choose what happens with her own body.

Of course, their groundbreaking candidacies follow those mounted by current Kansas congresswoman Sharice Davids (Ho-Chunk Nation) and former New Mexico Congresswoman Deb Haaland (Pueblo of Laguna). In 2018, they became the first two Native women ever elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Haaland then went on to become the first Native Cabinet secretary in the history of our union when President Biden tapped her to lead the Department of the Interior (after folks like you helped us put the pressure on him).

I have deep respect for all of these hardworking and talented women. And while Lakota Law, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, does not endorse candidates or political parties, I will say it’s my personal hope that they will continue to advance their careers and lead this nation forward in the years to come. In the meantime, know that Lakota Law will keep working to make sure all Native people across this country are ready, able, and willing to cast a ballot every election season.

Wopila tanka — my deep gratitude for your friendship and support!.

On the topic of the Iroquois Confederacy ideas—-https://www.fieldmuseum.org/blog/democracy-and-iroquois-constitution    –We are a nation built on the ideals of many, and Native North American contributions to our collective culture and society are immeasurable. The founders who wrote our U.S. Constitution, based on their democratic ideals, were influenced in part by Native American way of government.

More important than the history, is the continuity of principles that seem to uplift humanity and the nature without which people do not thrive or even survive.  This should be important to people.

A growing number of voters were interested in a public health care policy rather than the pay-to-play corporate system, and so said voters supported Bernie Sanders.  The Democratic Branch of the D&R duopoly nipped that in the bud using paid-for politician to dissuade unsophisticated voters to vote for corporate-purchased politicians.  We still need a one-payer public health care policy.

In the same acts of self-interest by hierarchical Establishment, this time the D&R Duopoly, expulsion of 3rd Party candidates in order to provide guarantees for Establishment candidates, seems also a definition of depravity.

This is a reason that in the NYS governors race, many people will write in Howie Hawkins and Gloria Mattera.

After securing ballot access in 2018, the Greens, along with the Independence, Serve America Movement, and Libertarian parties, all lost their ballot access after failing to secure enough statewide votes in the 2020 presidential election. Larry Sharpe, the 2018 Libertarian gubernatorial nominee, is also waging a write-in gubernatorial campaign in 2022.

With the difficult stage set, Hawkins is making electoral reform part of his campaign platform. Hawkins is pushing for New York to adopt ranked choice voting in the state.

Despite efforts by the New York State Democratic Party and their functionaries to silence us, we have broken through to the media with this campaign’s message of Inclusive Democracy, a Green New Deal, and an Economic Bill of Rights. We ask that you share this important news coverage to your community, families and allies:

Instructions: Write in Howie Hawkins and Gloria Mattera. Go tothe bottom of the column on your ballot for Governor and LieutenantGovernor and write in as legibly as you can: Howie Hawkins and GloriaMattera.

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.
One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?
The Democratic Branch of the Republican/Democratic Duopoly are especially functional in voter suppression—–https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbdkuU1edw          —#GreenSocialist Notes #76
Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7kn2-GEmM       —

Centralization is the lifeblood of the R&D duopoly.  It’s the way to enforce capitalism onto workers in 2022.———————–We can do better———-

That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
