CLIMATE CHANGE, HURRICANE, AND WAR

Some people see the origin of Creation less as a man with a beard and wearing a night gown, standing in the clouds, and more like cause and effect orchestrated by each individual.  A C-Span caller the other day said the hurricane was a judgment on Florida for shipping migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.

Others see it more as a predictable event when a nation puts a price tag on nature, promoting Climate Change for money and using he profits to build a playground for he players, built contrary to fairness and wisdom in the paths so orchestrated.  A price for such so-called progress is Climate Change.

Some people see imperialism and specifically the war in Ukraine as an effect of the cause of exploitation and gluttony of, for example, the system of capitalism.

A way to express this from a Natural Way value, in one’s imagination, may be on a non-material view in which one understands the depravity of harming the natural world of which humanity is a part.

This is only one view that nonetheless should be in the discussion.

From naiveorganizing.org           —      With just a few months left in the year, Congress must do its job and address the housing crisis in our communities.

According to recently released survey data by the U.S. Census Bureau, 43% of households earning $50,000 or less were spending over half of their income on rent. With rising housing costs and stagnant wages, affordable housing is becoming more and more unachievable.

The affordable housing crisis has also been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic and rising inflation, while eviction rates are back to pre-pandemic levels.href=’https://actionnetwork.org/css/style-embed-v3.css’ rel=’stylesheet’ type=’text/css’ /><script src=’https://actionnetwork.org/widgets/v3/letter/tell-congress-fund-affordable-housing?format=js&source=widget&referrer=[object Object]’></script><div id=’can-letter-area-tell-congress-fund-affordable-housing’ style=’width: 100%’><!– this div is the target for our HTML insertion –></div>

Several thoughts—-

***Capitalism underwrites a system of competition in which predatory behavior is rewarded economically, often at the cost of human resources (people) and natural resources (environment)

***Many people who are concerned abut environmental degradation still participate in a quasi-unavoidable system (unavoidable because it has not yet escaped denial by the public)

***Those who choose to step outside of the competitive system are therefore economically disadvantaged

***Those who accept the capitalistic status quo are economically rewarded, sometimes inordinately

***In order to participate positively in this system people must to some extent, deny the connection between natural resource exploitation and Climate Change

***Some at the top of this Pyramid Scheme even support privatization of land, air, and water

***When said privatizing proponents lose control of air, water, and land, the government steps in to help

***The down side to owning land, water and air is that they are not privy to human ownership, the up side to owning land, water, and air is the view and privilege during good weather

***This raises the question of the government that ignores affordable and energy-efficient housing for the majority of Americans, but is enthusiastic to “make those whole” who have presumed to ownership of land, air, and water on a McMansion scale.

These thoughts raise questions and are not solutions.  However one has recalled the systems of Indigenous people that generally view air, water and land as existing on a level with humanity, and therefore not to be exploited.

In contrast, capitalism even views humanity as a resource that can be privatized.

As the USA wages a proxy war in Europe over land disputes, too many people are blissfully unaware or uncaring about the same in the USA that depends attention first.  —

https://popularresistance.org/clint-halftown-us-enabled-tyrant-of-the-cayugas/      —“This leadership dispute began in November of 2004,” explained attorney Joe Heath. Heath is the general legal counsel for the Onondagas, and he has also worked as a lawyer for the traditional Gayogo̱hó:nǫ’ people since the 1990s. “[Halftown] knew very well that there were clan mothers and chiefs on the council that adamantly opposed gambling, because that’s a Haudenosaunee cultural teaching.” After the deal between Halftown and Pataki’s office became known, the Grand Council convened and wrote a letter to BIA saying that the deal was illegitimate.Unilateral decision making is not just looked down upon by the Grand Council; it is a removable offense. And, for lack of a better analogue, there is a kind of impeachment process by which a person serving on a council can be removed.Under this process, and in accordance with the Great Law of Peace, a condoled chief can be removed by his clan mother after three warnings, if the clan mother feels that the chief is taking actions that are not in alignment with the clan and with the Nation.

For many Gayogo̱hó:nǫ’ people, the failure of the BIA to recognize this impeachment process—Halftown’s removal by his own clan mother—constitutes US interference in the internal affairs of the Cayuga Nation. For them, this is a clear violation of Indigenous sovereignty.–end of popularresistance info–

To take seriously the claims of Ukraine while ignoring governance in the USA seems negligent.  The Haudenosaunee have ages-old policies and laws in place that seem held as a joke by those willing to take seriously a proxy war in Ukraine.

The birds may as well be symbolic of the majority of humanity.

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.
One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?

Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7kn2-GEmM       —

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.
