DEFINE WEIRD
It’s like oligarchs bear no responsibility in a society called open, where the 1% can “pocket $1.1 billion” and then express disdain for the “closed society” of other nations.

“The invasion of Ukraine didn’t come out of the blue. The world has been increasingly engaged in a struggle between two systems of governance that are diametrically opposed to each other: open society and closed society.”
The financier funds liberal charities and nongovernmental organizations worldwide through his Open Society Foundations. Soros is most famous for “breaking the Bank of England” when he bet against the British pound on Sept. 16, 1992, shorting the currency and pocketing $1.1 billion. This earned him a reputation as the premier currency speculator in the world.

Does non-alignment imply a closed or open society? How does that make sense of militarily-enforced alignment by, for example, NATO? Would Mr. Soros define support for unaligned nations closed or open? If an answer doesn’t exist, what is he talking about? —- https://socialistproject.ca/2022/06/india-has-key-role-possible-new-world-order/#more –So, what does nonalignment mean today when a few men and women, with the stroke of a pen, can seize billions in foreign reserves and bar trade between two sovereign countries? It is clear that in order for nonalignment to be effective, it cannot be restricted to transactional relationships or mere moral posturing.
It is also clear that the nonalignment of today must be based on the demand for the transformation of the world order, which will entail the rejection of the dictatorship of the World Bank and the IMF and the enduring impact of debt, the abolition of sanctions as a tool of war, and a more equitable United Nations.–end of socialistproject info–
Use of language can set the stage to insinuate freedom where there is none. Influential people talking about open and/or closed societies, owe it to lesser ranks of humanity to explain sweeping expressions about society. Maybe more importantly said lower ranks of humanity could be more discerning about what is heard. Discernment could imply and/or remind about autonomy and self-respect.

The following link from Aeon is timely considering having recently listened to Ben Sasse comment about the “wirdos” who are offering alternative ideas aside from capitalistic hierarchical Establishment. Apparently Establishment has cornered the market on valid ideas, one could draw from Ben Sasse’s critique.
https://aeon.co/essays/why-are-american-kids-treated-as-a-different-species-from-adults?utm_source=Aeon+Newsletter&utm_medium=email&&utm_campaign=launchnlbanner –In his book The Anthropology of Childhood: Cherubs, Chattel, Changelings (2008), the anthropologist David Lancy introduced the idea of the neontocracy: a type of society, unique to WEIRD countries (Western, educated, industrialised, rich and democratic), in which children are the most valued members. In a neontocracy, the bathtub fills up with toy ducks, the living room is slowly smothered in gadgets, and there is no upper limit on the amount of time and energy adults must pour into the project of childhood.

In a society, whether opened or closed, where children are experiencing problems to an abnormal degree, it seems valid to ask whether it is as much about catering to the needs of children than about infantalizing adults.
One has in the past mentioned the patriarchy that is predominant in the USA. This may too uncomfortably imply rule by men, when something else is actually meant. Language is tricky and one actually speaks about a system rather than individuals. Having considered this, and to speak to more universal reality, a more apt definition could be one that is less familiar to Americans. That is the Yin/Yang balance. This seems to place responsibility upon each individual to self-balance.
Interesting is the curiosity that a politician with new ideas that may not be associated primarily with yang, is Andrew Yang, with both first and last name implying yang. Aside from maybe Bernie Sanders, Howie Hawkins, and Nina Turner, Andrew Yang is a person one would cast a vote for President; who has a few original ideas that is desperately needed to balance American society. One doesn’t mean anything; this is simply an interesting thought about Yang’s name accompanied by what seems to be a balanced and original approach. But definitely our old system is failing us.
Another curiosity is discussion about the reason for gun violence in the USA that surpasses other nations, without absolutely no connection mentioned about American militarization and imperialism. Discussion about one should bring up discussion about the other, but it doesn’t. This is “weird”.
C-Span–8:10AM–caller–brings up the FACT that predominantly American mass shooters are male.
Far too many women seem to be enablers of our system; but this is a distinction that is obvious but ignored, incomprehensibly. This is weird.

The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.

Centralization is the lifeblood of the R&D duopoly. It’s the way to enforce capitalism onto workers in 2022.
