DEFINE LIBERTY

Ongoing emails from an organization that says it is working for voting rights calls into question the anomaly of reasoning that voters must approach big-money interests and commercial interests in order to secure the voting rights that seem fundamental to our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  This begs the question as to whether said voting-rights organizations are simply ignorant on the topic of civil rights, or are they a front group for fascism.

As one who has been rattling around for over 70 years, one has witnessed a diminishing sense of liberty in the USA, for the majority of citizens.  Do American young people understand that centralization and technology may not lend to greater liberty; and do they care?  Is peer pressure and convenience enticing as to negate freedom and liberty?  This, by the way, undermines justice for all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r_mhfyR4lg     — Florida residents broadcast Ukraine war news to Russian citizensFor instance, centralization byway of the internet that is owned ostensibly by private commercial interests absorbs awareness of young people, when said information is highly accessible by Establishment interests.  In contrast and in the memory of many living people, short-wave radio is a system devoid of monitoring and control by Establishment, and is truly a forum for Free Speech.  The short-wave radio station in Florida that recently was aired on CBS nightly news informs of using their platform to provide information to Russians about which their government doesn’t wish.  At one time the students at SUNY-B aired a show they called radio-free-Binghamton, to mimic the radio-free-Europe the USA sent “behind the Iron Curtain”.    At the time, young people were less indoctrinated into “positivity” and more enthusiastic about liberty and Free Speech.
Thirty years ago many drivers had short-wave radios in their vehicle with the ability to communicate privately.  Even while noting this FACT, one feels scandalous, according to modern-day mores, that expose personal information to the public quite freely.  A progress that has diminished personal liberty could be a matter for discussion.

Capitalism has been sold as the best possibility for excellent lifestyle for the largest number of people due to what is advertised as “free market principles”.  The topic of remaining positive aside, FACTually speaking and especially due to Citizens United that permits corruption in elections and for-sale lawmakers, capitalism isn’t about a “Free market”.  Capitalism has, however, given us the danger of an oligarchy.  Privatization of everything based on oligarchical principles has included privatization of military housing.  C-Span aired the hearing for the President’s 2023 military housing budget along with the information that “housing costs have gone through the roof” on military bases. This seems to mirror the experience for a large number of civilians, bringing into questions the indoctrination that capitalism brings economic well being to a nation—-https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-22-105866#:~:text=Congress%20enacted%20the%20Military%20Housing,Department%20of%20Defense%20(DOD).            –Congress enacted the privatized housing program in 1996 to improve the quality of housing for service members and their families. DOD is responsible for general oversight of the privatized family housing program; and private housing companies own and operate housing projects and are responsible for the maintenance and repair of privatized housing projects.–end of gao info–

Should we continue to insist that capitalism is the best economic system for the most people?

A saving grace of overtime in the ’60’s and ’70’s was the extra income, before being transferred into the sales force where payment was based on worth.  After the Reagan Trickle-Down economic theory was inflicted upon workers, commercial interests along with legislative assistance imagined methods to deny overtime pay to so many beleaguered and overworked hourly laborers.Time and a half was a god-send—https://www.hourly.io/post/how-to-calculate-time-and-a-half      –The rate for overtime work is 1.5x a worker’s hourly rate. In other words, the regular rate of pay plus another 50%.
In the typical case of an hourly or non-exempt employee, if you are paying Sandy $14 per hour, you would have to pay her 1.5 x $14 = $21 per hour for every overtime hour.
Time and a half pay is due for any hours over the standard 40-hour workweek for employees that qualify for overtime pay under the FLSA. —end of hourly info–

It is difficult to nail down the precise losses to workers from such employer tactics, but a 2017 Economic Policy Institute study of the nation’s 10 most populous states calculated that employees living in them lose more than $8 billion a year due to wage theft.

One’s view of what is important may be different from others.  One example is on the topic of the feminine and masculine.  One doesn’t believe the feminine should be used to support the image for the masculine.  To avoid innuendo one considers the misogyny used in political campaigns, and more specifically the misogyny from the Democratic campaign strategists toward women…..especially white women.  Women need to be who they are without correction from Establishment that seems generally patriarchal and self-promoting to patriarchy.  https://newsandletters.org/how-womens-trauma-is-used-against-them/               –Currently, psychologists, social workers, police and the courts view these as symptoms of mental illness. Taylor states this is the biological or medical model, which claims symptoms originate in the brain and can be controlled with medication. The newer, social model emphasizes effects of abuse, poverty, oppression and other social factors. It has been absorbed by the medical model, claiming these factors cause the unproven condition of “chemical imbalances in the brain.” Medication’s effectiveness is often unproven, and side-effects severe.–end of newsandletters info–

Finland seems to be a socialist-leaning nation that offers universal health care to its citizens.  “Western values” (capitalism is the best system for the most people) are enticing, especially if the public isn’t laboring under a system of capitalism.  Finland seems to be in such enviable circumstances, and seems to have a healthy economy.  That Finland wishes to move away from said healthy economy and toward the capitalism of “The West”, where income inequality is rampant, poses a few questions.  When Finland pays its fair share to support NATO, will The good people of the USA who have been supporting an out-of-touch Europe for so long on the topic of NATO, be allowed to enjoy the socialized health care system that will be better for the health of Americans, and less expensive anyway?  One looks forward to this happy new normal.   –https://socialistproject.ca/2022/05/protest-finland-no-nato-yes-peace/#more                –Given its long border with Russia, Finland cultivated active neutrality and non-alignment during the Cold War. It feels as though the work of patriarchy is to uplift male supremacy, and this seems to ignore important views from matriarchy.  Perhaps this leads to the imbalance with which we live in 2022–         https://aeon.co/essays/a-rescue-mission-on-behalf-of-women-philosophers?utm_source=Aeon+Newsletter&utm_campaign=f53043e51d-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2022_05_24_12_30&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_411a82e59d-f53043e51d-70464341                 –Salomé and Luxemburg did not stand at the periphery of the philosophical debates of their time. They were at the very centre of them. Many of the male philosophers whose works are now canonical were explicit in their rejection of women’s intellectual potential – ie, the intellectual potential of half of humankind. Vain, silly, irresponsible or not quite human – at least not as human as men are. There is, it seems, no shortage of derogatory comments on women among 19th-century philosophers. It is not easy to lead your life as a wandering contradiction in terms. And a contradiction in terms was, indeed, how leading male philosophers had pitched the idea of a woman philosopher. Yet the women prevailed.Neither the misogyny, nor the exclusion from the history of philosophy was due, simply, to philosophers and historians being blinded by their times. They had alternatives. They chose to ignore them. And, what is more, this happened at the same time as women started to demand access to higher education and the modern women’s movement found its present form. –end of aeon info–

One notes the similarity from past male supremacy characters to the Democratic Party campaign strategists who used women during the 2020 Presidential campaign……to use the phrase coined by such diminished characters……especially white women.  The snake-oil salesman quality of deriding women while when women mentioned such objectification, to then label said people as racist, is diabolical.  This is perfection of the patriarchal supremacy; ostensibly leading toward control of the bodies of women.  And so goes liberty.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.
