One sees a pattern of exploitation of women and children and many men, in order to underpin a capitalistic hierarchical Establishment that is enriched at the expense of others not only in the USA, but around the globe.  In a society that disregards local-community welfare for the sake of hierarchy, expressions of concern for life seems belied by war, poverty, and a predatory health care system.  
One other important component to independence and self-definition is to have removed meat from one’s diet since 1990.  Seldom touching on this FACT, it seems honest to include due to a growing interest as suggested in one’s twitter feed.  As a part of self-defining away from exploitation, fear and pain, this path seems to resonate with many people.  As one of those, one might as well say so.
