LOCAL POLITICS

The earned attention on Federal politics comes at the cost of attention taken away from local politics.  Many actions of local politicians are so scattered and under reported and seldom seriously challenged as to support a quasi fiefdom.  The work of local politicians should be to promote the interests of a majority of residents within their district.  Many examples abound, for example in the Southern Tier of NYS, of promotion of big-money interests at the expense of local residents.  Draining money from local communities and toward interests outside of our region is poor governance.

The bait-and-switch of support for projects that benefit big-money interests are accompanied by fanfare from corporate-owned-politically-influenced MSM.  The same fanfare could as easily advertise local sole proprietorship.  Excuses to promote expensive projects generally result in a drain of wealth out of our local economy, but are generally advertised as promoting local small business peripherally.  This is a cynical and unproven strategy to CYA by politicians ingratiating themselves to big-money donors rather than doing their job.

Walker and fellow supervisors are unabashed industry apologists and, as reported, have entered into gas leases, with Walker recently boasting that Olympus has “been nice to deal with.” Yet their solicitor sees no conflict of interest. Gullible residents were told how fracking would benefit the township with money forthcoming to pave roads and keep taxes in line. Unfortunately, residents are now told their taxes will be raised by 20%! So much for benefits. –end of facebook post—– Indoctrination by all of our government, commercial interests, media, and our common-core educational system has obliterated public memory of original principles for the formation of corporations in the USA. A most important forgotten component of public control of rampant corporation excess is the Corporate Charter Revocation—-https://reclaimdemocracy.org/…/hidden_corporate_history… –In 1776 we declared our independence not only from British rule, but also from the corporations of England that controlled trade and extracted wealth from the U.S. (and other) colonies. Thus, in the early days of our country, we only allowed corporations to be chartered (licensed to operate) to serve explicitly as a tool to gather investment and disperse financial liability in order to provide public goods, such as construction of roads, bridges or canals. For 100 years after the American Revolution, citizens and legislators tightly controlled the corporate chartering process. Having thrown off English rule, the revolutionaries made certain that legislators issued charters one at a time and for a limited number of years and authority was wielded through laws like those summarized here in each state. Because of widespread public opposition, early legislators granted very few corporate charters, and only after debate. Citizens governed corporations by detailing operating conditions not just in charters but also in state constitutions and state laws. Incorporated businesses were prohibited from taking any action that legislators did not specifically allow. –end of reclaimdemocracy info– The original function of corporations as to support local-community excellence has been subverted legislatively for corporations to become our masters, with law enforcement acting as enforcers for this hierarchy. This doesn’t feel compliant to principles of the US Constitution. The Supreme Court is seriously compromised as being political. In other words, the Republican/Democratic duopoly has replaced We The People as subjects of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic. This can change only by the attention from the public. We can’t expect our so-called Representatives to remain above corruption, it would appear, if We The People don’t keep an eye on them.   They are, after all, only human. http://go.pardot.com/webmail/176172/276433389/4ddfec1b0a5bf3039746ddad8c263d2ebcee572dda2983632e66d83487603cd2    –As the end of the year approaches, we wanted to let our members know that videos from the 2021 Watershed Congress are now available for viewing. Indigenous people have much to offer relating to sustainable living.  The colonial system of capitalism is failing a majority of people.  This is predictable because capitalism, like communism, is based upon hierarchy.  These systems are intended to promote the interests of hierarchy, but are sold to gullible people as being the best for said people.  –https://socialistproject.ca/2021/12/wetsuweten-law-hereditary-chiefs-evict-coastal-gaslink/#more          –“Anuc ‘nu’at’en (Wet’suwet’en law) is not a ‘belief’ or a ‘point of view’. It is a way of sustainably managing our territories and relations with one another and the world around us, and it has worked for millennia to keep our territories intact. Our law is central to our identity. The ongoing criminalization of our laws by Canada’s courts and industrial police is an attempt at genocide, an attempt to extinguish Wet’suwet’en identity itself.–end of socialistproject info–

Deb Haaland is not only the hope for Indigenous People, but for everyone who understand our government is not functioning for the majority, but has become a dictatorship to promote oligarchy.  We need more people in office carrying the promise for a change to a system that has become tyranny.
Received from lakotalaw—-Happy holidays! As many of us use this time to gather with family and friends, I thank you for staying with us as we enter a new year of winning justice. Last week, we took an important step forward when U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland visited Lakota Country for a meeting with tribal leaders, including our new Standing Rock Chairwoman, Janet Alkire. Watch the video we made about the visit here! It’s a wonderful sign, amid all that’s already on her plate, that Secretary Haaland — the first Native Cabinet secretary in U.S. history — took the time to come to our homelands and hear our concerns and feedback. That’s emblematic of who she is. On two previous occasions, Lakota Law met directly with Secretary Haaland, and we’re excited about the values she brings to overseeing federal policy affecting Indian Country. That’s why you helped us advocate — as detailed by the New York Times — for her appointment as Interior Secretary.

It makes my heart smile as an Indigenous elder to know that our chairwoman and Secretary Haaland have met and begun a process of listening to one another. As the first woman to serve as our chair in over 60 years, Janet will represent us well. Not only did she work with Lakota Law during our successful vote campaign last year, but she also cares deeply about our environment, community-based healing, and tribal sovereignty.

We’re in an important moment. Experienced Native women are stepping into leadership positions when we need their guidance most, and we have an unparalleled opportunity for the Standing Rock Nation to reassert its stature as a global environmental justice leader. I thank you for supporting Lakota Law as we continue to assist in any way we can.Wopila tanka — my gratitude for your care and attention!

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
Along with Climate Change, many people oppose the imperialism of the USA under control of the Republican/Democratic duopoly.  Use of the wealth of our nation should be to enhance quality of life for We The People rather than for imperialism.  Some people vote accordingly. I ———————– That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge— *We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote” *Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People *Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly. *Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation *Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.
