DICKINSON (WBNG) — Representative Marc Molinaro of the 19th Congressional District picked up Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar’s endorsement Thursday.

Sheriff Akshar said the representative was endorsed for “proudly supporting law enforcement and fighting to strengthen public safety.” Akshar noted the representative’s history of supporting legislation against controversial bail reform laws, a strong southern border and federal funding for local law enforcement.—-end of WBNG info—-

House Speaker Mike Johnson to travel to Binghamton for event with Rep. Molinaro—

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., will travel to Binghamton Thursday for an event with Republican U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro focused on law enforcement funding and public safety. 

The Thursday meeting will be at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and is said to feature sheriff’s deputies, neighboring law enforcement, other first responders and families. 

Johnson’s trip comes as Molinaro seeks reelection in the 19th Congressional District. Broome County is the most-populous county there and could play a large role in in the upcoming election. Molinaro is being challenged by Democrat Josh Riley, who is from Endicott, a village just outside Binghamton. Molinaro flipped the seat in 2022, defeating Riley by about 4,500 votes. –end of MJ info—

Acquitted Arson Suspect Sues Fire Department – Fire Law Blog—

A woman who was acquitted of arson charges last year for a fire that occurred in 2022, has filed suit against the Binghamton Fire Department and several law enforcement agencies that she claims were responsible for her malicious prosecution and fourteen months of incarceration. Marquetta James filed suit in US District Court for the Northern District of New York naming six entities and seven named individuals as defendants.

The named entities include the City of Binghamton, the Binghamton Fire Department, the Binghamton Police Department, Broome County, the Broome County District Attorney’s Office, and the Broome County Correctional Facility. The facts as alleged in the complaint:—–end of DA info—-

As one who is ignorant about the FACTS of the above news report, one is as troubled by the Group Hug of endorsements of Southern Tier political cronies.

A seeming bulwark of strong-man rule seems to build, that some people recognize as sick in the community.

Add to this the endorsement from the Previous Sheriff Harder for his DP Akshar who became the NYS Senator long enough to influence laws of his liking, and then his move back into running for the Broome County Sheriff when Harder retired.  So now he seems compelled to not only protecting and serving, but also to “Crack Down” according to his whims.

One imagines endorsed Rep. Molinaro carries the same authoritarian attitudes, judging by the Mike Johnson interference into local politics.

All seem to exude MAGA control.  This seems legal, but rather sleazy; and is worthy of sunlight.

Wrapped in a pretty bow all, is the NYS Rep Molinaro legislation that will label as domestic terrorists byway of claims by any authority figure of anti semitism, anti-war activists who have recently stood shoulder-to-shoulder with both responsible and honored local Jewish protesters, and equally honored and responsible Palestinians.

The tricks used by law enforcement not operating on all cylinders are a danger to We The People.
