Another interesting result of questionable governance is the “problem” of Social Security.  The fund into which workers have paid over 30, 40,and 50 years is advertised as running out of money.  The solution?  Cutting back on benefits and requiring elders to work into their 70’s and 80’s.  Meanwhile youngsters are urged to take out extraordinary debt to fund education in institutions of higher learning to make them job-ready for employment that is unavailable at a requisite remuneration.  As boldly as natural resources are exploited, so are human resources exploited.
Trade training is looked down upon by too many of those indoctrinated into belief that life isn’t worth living without a debt-encumbered degree from an institution of higher learning that too often won’t insure a living wage.  And so a vibrant workforce enthusiastic to launch life into autonomy and self-respect doesn’t happen, with the result of the share of young workers for contributions into the system of Social Security, is missing.  And parents who have paid into the system are supporting too many would-be workers at the time when they could enjoy said self-respect and autonomy by contributing in a meaningful way to the society in which we all live.  And by the way, live a fulfilling life.

That I’m sounding too much like a Republican troubles me, too.  The circle may be complete when Republicans take seriously the reality of Climate Change.  That the Democratic/Republican duopoly apparently is working a system of good-cop-bad-cop to maintain the interests of the 1% isn’t lost on some people.

A direct link has been identified between the fossil fuel industry and Climate Change.  If our politicians pass laws that shelter the fossil fuel industry, a reason can be imagined in the bribery implicit in money in politics via Citizens United.  Stated differently, the US taxpayer-funded subsidies passed to the fossil fuel industry underpins campaign contributions to politicians byway of Citizens United that is causing Climate Change.  This seems an odd concept of governance.

Al.  Rev. Al has been in the bulwark of misogyny as political campaign strategy, in one persons’ view…..especially toward white women (his words, not mine).  Rev. Al may have come to realize the patriarchal ploy of pitting one woman against another is becoming too obvious.  Instead Rev; Al was trumpeting the valuable characteristics of black women.  Well, if Rev. Al says so, it must be true.  But anyway to at least hear patriarchal Establishment praising one group of women in place of denigrating another group  of women is a start.  Of course, neither strategy is necessary if the FACT of women’s rights as human rights was recognized.  My good man, you do not need to pander to women; we know we’re legitimate.  But  the change in tone was a positive step in the right direction.NOW, for example, makes no bones about the rights of women and in FACT, everyone.  Access the information from NOW and you will recognize dignity and respect over pandering.We have much work to do.

According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.
