GATEKEEPERS
How informed are we in 2023 when a search for the reality for women in 1950 is so hard to uncover?
https://www.newspapers.com/article/14848042/press-and-sun-bulletin/ – 4A Advocates for adoptees press to open birth records. 5A Black market adoptions make millions each year. SA Two local women search for their history. 7A mothers’ names were altered, and firsthand reports about babies who were coerced from unwilling mothers. Money changed hands in what is now regarded as the black market sale of infants.

In the 1950’s, one remembers being a little girl in the background among older women who with shifting eyes filled with fear and low voices, talked about “being put away” after they became irksome to husbands. In 1950 the practice was gone but the baggage lingered. Although in the ’50’s drugs were still used to provide women the means by which to endure their place.
https://www.theatlantic.com/sponsored/netflix-2017/how-victorian-women-were-oppressed-through-the-use-of-psychiatry/1607/ – BUT WHAT ABOUT THE THOUSANDS of Victorian-era women who were never accused of violence or specific crimes yet were nonetheless sentenced to languish in asylums? Their stories also serve to highlight the chauvinism of early psychiatry, which often punished women for breaking social norms.
At some point in her marriage, however, she started disagreeing with the radical religious beliefs of her husband, Theophilus Packard, a strict Calvinist pastor.
One morning at church, Packard reached her breaking point. She stood up in the middle of her husband’s sermon and announced she was going to the Methodist church across the street. “To the more conservative members of Reverend Packard’s church, who held firm to the Calvinist bedrock of human depravity and ignorance, her beliefs were literal evidence of insanity,” Hendrik Hartog wrote in his 1989 article in the Yale Journal of Law & the Humanities, “Mrs. Packard on Dependency.”

It is wise to listen for those whispered snippets of reality from terrified women. It could be prophetic.
In FACT in the Southern Tier of NYS just this week were 2 incidents of revolting domestic violence that is too intimate and sordid to be used. And these were such as were reported.
Hormone replacement therapy for women was often advertised as a way to “stay young”. As one who is totally ignorant on the topic of the medical industry, one still wonders whether retention of (personal phrase) people-pleasing hormones is necessary or even healthy.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3317878/ – Results that incorporate longer post-intervention follow-up from both trials are now available to inform the current understanding of the influence of hormone therapy on breast cancer and other chronic diseases in postmenopausal women.
–end of ncbi info–As pertains to sanity in women, is this the way to enjoin women to retain their sweet and compliant personality in the service of others; and is it even desirable?
One won’t even go into the earlier-era system of burning older women at the stake, labeled as witches, when they had become uncomplimentary toward patriarchy.
In 1950, little school girls in a particular Upstate NY public school, were instructed to kneel in front of the Principal to ensure her skirt touched the floor; thereby, one supposes, precluding the innate pornography of little girls (sarcasm).
As one who self-defines as a militant ’70’s Feminist, recognition of the success of the women’s movement seemed to meander through the ’80’s and ’90’s into a young-lady mindset of having attained rights that seemed to be ensconced in reality. Consequently derision toward ’70’s Feminists seemed a standard by which confidence was on display. And so, isn’t this that which we worked toward?…..Young women who were confident and self-assured.
Yet some of us who lived under reproductive oppression in real time, warned that rights were not guaranteed. Nobody listened.
One awaits the reaction from the self-assured, confident, sophisticated, and educated young women to actually gain back rights lost, once secured by those from another era. Seems like a healthy character-building opportunity.
The FACT is made that racism doesn’t equate with hard-times for privileged white people. One concurs.

The awakened seem to wish to hush the voices of women along the line of those ’50’s women speaking about being “put away by their husbands” for bad behavior. And the beat goes on.
Patriarchy doesn’t care about racism, misogyny, or anything else, other than self-promotion and control. Don’t be side-tracked.

Protesters are currently often labeled as domestic terrorists.
https://popularresistance.org/stop-cop-city-is-everywhere/ – Despite the arrests of protesters and their support network, or perhaps because of it, the Stop Cop City movement is everywhere. Driving through Atlanta, I see Stop Cop City wheatpaste posters pasted on abandoned buildings and at highway intersections. “Defend the Atlanta forest” is scrawled as bathroom graffiti and found on bumper stickers and yard signs. It’s hard for residents of Atlanta to be ignorant of the movement.

As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-
