From MRonline —-     https://mronline.org/2023/01/18/cuba-assumes-the-head-of-the-g-77-at-a-critical-time/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cuba-assumes-the-head-of-the-g-77-at-a-critical-time&mc_cid=5406209d20&mc_eid=2833cdb99b        –On January 12, Cuba took the presidency of the G77+China for the first time in history after being elected in September 2022 during the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The Caribbean state got this relevant position at a transcendental moment not only for the island but for developing countries in general. It should be remembered that the G-77 began in 1964 by seventy seven developing nations who banded together to articulate and promote their collective interests while enhancing their joint negotiating capacity.

And which nations can benefit from the leadership of Cuba in attempts to move past the “developing nation” designation?  Consider the USA——https://www.downtoearth.org.in/blog/governance/us-is-becoming-a-developing-country-on-global-rankings-that-measure-democracy-inequality-85111     –The United States may regard itself as a “leader of the free world,” but an index of development released in July 2022 places the country much farther down the list.In its global rankings, the United Nations Office of Sustainable Development dropped the US to 41st worldwide, down from its previous ranking of 32nd.The Office of Sustainable Development’s rankings differ from more traditional development measures in that they are more focused on the experiences of ordinary people, including their ability to enjoy clean air and water, than the creation of wealth. So while the gigantic size of the American economy counts in its scoring, so too does unequal access to the wealth it produces. When judged by accepted measures like the Gini coefficient, income inequality in the US has risen markedly over the past 30 years.

–end of downtoearth info–

One observes that the USA clocks in at 41 while Cuba is at 40; and Belarus is 34.  One specifically mentions Belarus due to the snide labeling of that nation as dumb-Belarus, by a MSM talking head so-called reporting on MSNBC.  But then when you’re exceptional…….

This feels like a reflection of the system of denial by too many of the public, as indoctrinated by capitalistic hierarchical Establishment.  The quasi black-balling of Cuba which is openly communistic feels less like US concerns that Americans will “turn communist” than that the comparison will reveal how similar are communism and capitalism.

Some people would prefer adhering to principles of a democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Either way, the aggressive promotion of capitalism needs to be explained.

Lee Camp seems shocked…..shocked…….that a room full of white men parsed up Africa, separated families, and declared the national boundaries.  For an accompanying history of humanity, largely among tribes, one may read https://www.amazon.com/Gates-Europe-History-Ukraine/dp/0465094864#:~:text=Situated%20between%20Central%20Europe%2C%20Russia,Reich%20and%20the%20Soviet%20Union.          —

Situated between Central Europe, Russia, and the Middle East, Ukraine was shaped by the empires that used it as a strategic gateway between East and West—from the Roman and Ottoman empires to the Third Reich and the Soviet Union. For centuries, Ukraine has been a meeting place of various cultures.

This book has answered a few questions on a personal ancestral level.  And as one who is as suspicious of communism as one is of capitalism, one has noted that even under the atrocious leader Stalin, land was reclaimed from hierarchy and distributed among the peasants.  One also notes that the communists of the USSR then captured the agricultural products from said peasants.  And so it goes………2 sides of the same coin of hierarchical dictatorship.

C-Span hosted a discussion about electric vehicles—–

JANUARY 19, 2023  | PART OF WASHINGTON JOURNAL 01/19/2023

Washington Journal

Omar Vargas on General Motors’ Strategy for Electric Vehicles

General Motor’s Omar Vargas talked about the company’s strategy for electric vehicles and how regulation from Washington impacts the company’s efforts.

—–end of c-span info–

Some people are aware that the average American can’t put food on their table in 2023, let alone buy an electric vehicle.  Other troublesome issues are the high cost of replacement batteries, lack of charging stations, cold weather that can undermine performance, and use of rare earth minerals.  At 9:20AM the guest expressed the happy use of tax credits that can reduce the price of electric vehicles by $4,000 to $7,000.

Tax credits are often used as the bait for the switch for many expensive investments that surely would be good for the environment.  One is not a tax expert, but one believes the consumer would need an income tax obligation that is more than the tax credit to take advantage of the tax credit.  When the majority of workers don’t receive a living wage to begin with, their income tax liability won’t support the tax credit any more than their income would support purchase of an electric vehicle.

Add to this the GOP-proposed 30% sales tax to replace income taxes, and apparently nobody will have access to the tax credit to purchase environment-friendly products, nor the discretionary income to contemplate doing so.

In other words we seem to have a s__t storm of propaganda from frenzied lawmakers talking gobbely-goop to anyone who will listen; or maybe just to drown out the objections from constituents.

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.
One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?
The Democratic Branch of the Republican/Democratic Duopoly are especially functional in voter suppression—–https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbdkuU1edw          —#GreenSocialist Notes #76
Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7kn2-GEmM       —

Ross Perot in 1992 on NAFTA and the “Giant Sucking Sound”

Centralization is the lifeblood of the R&D duopoly.  It’s the way to enforce capitalism onto workers in 2022.———————–We can do better———-

That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
