TAKE THE KEYS OF THE FAMILY CAR FROM JUNIOR

In other words, should the US public underwrite joyriders?
One will need to risk noncompliance to the propaganda of “positivity” that is extant on media outlets, by mentioning several FACTual topics tht concern humanity. For example—
*Sparsity of living wage in the USA
*Climate Change
*An educational system with a mission to train students into consumerism rather than civic responsibility
*A predatory disease care system rather than a universal health care system
*Imperialism defined in terms of “spreading democracy around the world”
*Lack of democracy in the USA
*Attacks on human rights of women pertaining to privacy
*”Running government like a business” which on a continuum is fascism or organized crime
Some people notice the definition of “American interests” by politicians and bureaucrats shoe-horned into positions of power via Citizens United, which seems to be another adulteration of notions in the US Constitution that seems to reinforce benefits to We the People, that the “American interests” definition implies transfer of the wealth of the nation from the 100% to the 1%. Consider the following interesting FACT—–
https://www.salon.com/2018/01/21/how-taxpayer-money-could-end-up-paying-for-rich-people-to-go-to-space/ —The egregiousness here is subtle, particularly since our government has a history of giving contracts to private companies, and letting said private companies use the fruits of those contracts to profit separately with no ancillary benefit to taxpayers. (For more on this, read about the iPhone, which was developed with huge amounts of government-funded research — though taxpayers make no royalties off its sale, of course.) What seems more damning is the revelation that private tourists get to enjoy a luxury like a space vacation courtesy of taxpayers’ help.

About 50 years ago, one was bored out of one’s mind by 2001: A Space Odyssey. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001:_A_Space_Odyssey_(film)
After reading adulation about this movie recently, I decided to give the movie another try. I am no movie critic, and I could be the only person on the face of the planet who feels the same, but the movie is horrible. However, it did raise several thoughts.—-
*Space is big and empty
*Movies can romanticize space travel
*Something can go wrong very, very far from home
Another thought popped into my mind. How would Earth’s star-struck oligarchs react in the immensity of space and so far from their money. One believes the PR discussion from said oligarchs about colonizing space in their government/private partnership that will fund such projects, may be the family equivalent of giving the teen the keys to the family car based on childish whining. But that’s just my imagination. Let’s talk about it.
In other words childlike hubris we hear from said stalwart oligarchs, are a campaign to wheedle cash out of Mom and Dad for personal delight, ignoring the needs of the family. Is there another example of such arrogant rhetoric? Recently the reason to maintain legality of assault weapons and other firearms to be carried by gun-toters in public places is “the only way to stop a bad man with a gun is a good man with a gun”.
Recent and heart-breaking evidence testifies to what many people suspected. In the face of an armed gunman, “good men with guns” may be no more reliable or courageous than a 10-year-old girl.
And by the way, why should the rest of the public be required to depend on personal assertion from a self-defined “good man with a gun” that he is actually good?
And yet Americans continue to place trust in the swagger and braggadocio of such characters. The entertainment industry may have done well its job of indoctrination into acceptance of BS.
Should we reconsider what integrity looks like? We should at least talk about it.

From lakotalaw——————Earlier this week, I wrote to you about the exciting progress we’re making with my grandmothers’ group toward creating a tribally-run Child Welfare Department here at the Cheyenne River Nation. I also mentioned that our legal team was on the verge of completing the draft of an amicus brief for the Supreme Court that will help protect the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), a federal law that keeps Native foster children in Native homes. Today, I’m happy to report that our draft brief has been completed and submitted for feedback to partner organizations who are part of the Tribal Supreme Court Project.
Winning justice for our next generations and expanding tribal sovereignty will depend on a coordinated approach. Because ICWA’s fate will be determined by a dangerously conservative Supreme Court, our legal arguments must be well-measured and synced with our partners. Additionally, our work inside the courtroom must be paired with a continued focus on grassroots organizing in partnership with the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribes to shore up tribally controlled foster care and adoption programs — especially in the event that ICWA gets struck down or modified later this year.
But the first line of defense is doing everything we can to preserve what we already have: ICWA is a good federal law that protects kids. The chair of our Advisory Board is former South Dakota Senator James Abourezk, who also happens to be ICWA’s primary creator. Now, Sen. Abourezk is co-authoring our amicus brief to the Supreme Court. We’re helping to communicate his detailed knowledge to the justices, and we believe his powerful testimony can help create key swing votes in our favor.
My deep appreciation to you for standing in our corner. Together, we can meet this pivotal moment. I’ve been active on the front lines of Native justice for five decades, and Lakota Law has worked to defend ICWA for more than 20 years. There’s nothing we haven’t seen, and there’s no fight we can’t win if we stay unified, work smart, and fight hard.
