HISTORIC TENSION OF AMERICA

Honesty can reduce tension.  A first step is to acknowledge FACTS.  This starts us down the road to maturity.

The building of a nation includes winners and losers and history is written by the winners.  More nuanced is who are the good people and who are the wicked people.https://twitter.com/dallasgoldtooth/status/1475165286781304832    –Growing up in MN – the only way I knew about the #Dakota38 mass hanging was because our Dakota communities taught us about it. I never heard about it in public school, it wasn’t taught as a part of MN history. We kept the memories of our ancestors alive.–end of facebook post——

https://popularresistance.org/puyallup-tribe-and-community-organizations-challenge-decision-allowing-tacoma-lng-facility/  –Tacoma, WA — Today, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and several community organizations filed an appeal with Pierce County Superior Court challenging a November decision by the Washington Pollution Control Hearings Board (PCHB). Despite misleading and inaccurate information used to evaluate the project, PCHB determined the Puget Sound Energy’s (PSE) air permits, issued by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) and given to the Tacoma Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facility, were adequate.“As we said last month, we are profoundly disappointed the board upheld the remainder of the permit and we expect the decision will embolden companies that start projects that feed climate change and put vulnerable communities at risk,” the Puyallup Tribal Council said in a statement. “We were put here to protect these lands and waters and that is what we will continue to do. We will continue the fight. Too much is at stake.”–end of popularresisance info–
The Southern Tier of NYS has been a hotbed of responsible citizen actions to protect local communities and environment against exploitation by bureaucrats and big-money interest campaign donors.  Corporate-owned-politically-influenced MSM has seemed reticent to adequately report news that is FACTual rather than advertising for big-money interests.  This is also the region where a cadre of Sheriffs have expressed their demand for “crack down” on “activists”, which seems to be the Establishment definition for concerned citizens.  The decade-long struggle of anti-fracking advocates was woefully reported in the media.  Even so the NYS fracking ban became reality.  No less a struggle has been response to other projects that would anticipate harm to local people and nature.  One such project was the proposed LNG fueling station next to a local school.  The dangers were obvious, yet bureaucrats were curiously enthusiastic to comply with industry demands to build this facility.  That these local-community struggles have gone under reported has resulted in ignorance from large swaths of the public that environmental pollution is restricted to chosen communities when it is FACTually ubiquitous.https://www.wicz.com/story/36233542/court-rules-against-planning-board-in-controversial-fenton-compressor-station   –On Monday, Judge Ferris Lebous found the Fenton Planning Board did not follow state regulations when it reviewed and approved Vermont-based NG Advantage’s plan. –end of wicz info–
In FACT so-called activism (involved responsible citizens) are a requirement when bureaucrats are paid off or otherwise bedazzled by big-money interests to the extent of selling out the local public.  Calls for “crack down” on “activists” are understandable as more of the public awaken to the exploitation by capitalistic hierarchical Establishment.  But said “crack down” on “activists” seems contrary to principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.

One thinks voting rights are under attack by a Democratic/Republican duopoly strategy that protects big-money interests.  The D&R duopoly is a collaboration between 2 political Parties with the same ultimate interests of authority over We The People.  It seems saving the right to vote to each citizen is worth doing away with the filibuster.
Received from lakotalaw—-As we prepare to turn our calendars to 2022, one issue rises to the top of mind for many of us in Indian Country: in an election year, we have to make sure we’re heard at the ballot box. Given how critical the Native turnout was to the results in 2020 — and the extra barriers certain states have created for Native voters and other People of Color — now is the time to begin game planning. Your support over the past two election cycles powered our ability to increase participation both here in Lakota Country and around the U.S. The stakes in 2022 remain monumental, and, with your support, we intend to be change-makers once again.
We have to hit the ground running right now on strategy and planning to maximize our effectiveness in November. Please generously include the Lakota People’s Law Project in your year-end giving. We can and will increase turnout from Native and environmental voters when and where it matters most! We’ve already created the blueprint to succeed. In 2018, we joined a massive effort to get out the vote at Standing Rock Nation. In 2020, our call center at Standing Rock employed tribal members as phone bankers who called fellow tribal members and environmental voters across the nation. We focused on where our organizers could make the biggest possible difference. Last time around, that included swing states like Arizona, North Carolina, and Florida — and we then successfully replicated our model during the Georgia run-off elections. This year, once again, we’ll choose the states we can impact the most. In Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and New Hampshire, we anticipate tight senate races where an inspired turnout from Native People could elect those who care about the things that matter most to Lakota Country.Your support has been and will continue to be crucial. I thank you for standing alongside the original people of this land as we give everything we have to ensure a better world for its future generations.Wopila tanka — thank you for your generous spirit, and happy holidays!

The fascinating conundrum of the USA continues due to a glamorized supposition about our history that hasn’t been thoroughly forthcoming.  One hears often from Establishment the need to move forward, not look backward.  Yet backward is where one finds the origin of chaos in explaining ourselves to ourselves.
With an interest in Feminism one nevertheless was startled by the large number of women who were burned in New England pre-Revolution.  To use the phrase “burned as witches” seem to mitigate the horror of the reality by offering a type of excuse that in itself is absurd.  This gloss over implies validity.  Having opened this door into history, one is searching further into misogyny, especially politically motivated.  A current read is The Puritan Dilemma by Edmund S. Morgan.
The Preface warned of ‘splaining to come in the following…”Seventeenth-Century Massachusetts has thus become in retrospect a preposterous land of witches and witch hunters, of kill-joys in tall-crowned hats, whose main occupation was to prevent each other from having any fun an whose sole virtue lay in their furniture.”
Several thoughts—*To include the FACT of woman burning as by insinuating something about witches, along with a sole virtue in their furniture, is typically misogynistic and deflective*The story of John Winthrop as told in this book surely casts him as typically human, and does an excellent job of explaining his mindset according to his personal written information*This story makes come alive a reality of the settling of New England as pertains to the origins in England and the reason to travel so far in search of religious freedom*The styles of tensions within the Puritan community are all too recognizable even in 2022*The overarching presumption of right to settle in land occupied by Indigenous People rests on the ideology that the King enjoyed a connection to God that gave him the right to offer a charter to English citizens to do so, even as this supposed right violated the rights of others*The Puritans took advantage of this presumption even as they did so to free themselves of the tyranny of that very system*Those so doing took advantage of distance and presumption to be authority in New England*The topic came up in New England as to this tension as some Puritans accepted the benefits regardless of the implicit corruption of these presumptions, while others understood the presumption and apparently needed to speak out about the hypocrisy
Why is this history important even in 2022?  One will say that not much has changed.  An interesting observation expressed in the book was that John Winthrop had more trouble handling the good people than the wicked. (Apparently each is in the eye of the beholder)  Identification as good people and wicked people is as much subjective in the 1600’s as it is in 2022.
This tension also is the thread that has run through the American history and across the USA.  Wouldn’t this be a fascinating topic about which to ponder?
I for one would like to challenge references to burning witches in order to use the less evasive definition of burning women.  What could have been the offense of said women in such a limited time and location, to warrant such execution?  Why is this so under discussed?
More directly the topic of discussion should be the tension that seems to exist as FACTually in 2022 as it did in the 1600’s.  The same interaction of hierarchy in need of retaining power at any cost may be the disease.
The fairy tales we tell ourselves could be left behind for reality.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
Along with Climate Change, many people oppose the imperialism of the USA under control of the Republican/Democratic duopoly.  Use of the wealth of our nation should be to enhance quality of life for We The People rather than for imperialism.  Some people vote accordingly.I———————–That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.
