CALL IT A CRIME

C-Span hosted discussions about this week’s top news stories.  Crime was high on the list.

At around 9:00AM a caller expressed her opinion that too many of our fellow citizens are too exercised over holding a 14-year-old girl or a 14-year-old boy of color to the letter of the law, while at the same time ….paraphrase…..overlooking the preciously precocious boys-will-be-boys antics of privileged white men.  This interpretation as imagined in one’s own language, is supported by the indoctrination by patriarchy using the attraction of capitalistic hierarchical Establishment that is founded upon “running government as a business”.

A subtle example as noticed in The Southern Tier of NYS may be the quasi-road-rage aggression witnessed on our roads, seldom inflicted by little old gentlemen or ladies in their slow-moving vehicles, or even by inexperienced young drivers, frightening though they may be in their distraction.

This translates into the more-sophisticated and suave political messages that some people recognize as cronyism and dedicated self promotion.

The harsh transparency from a Broome County Sheriff who spoke his mind plainly, contrary to one’s own policy positions, seems to have been replaced by a more groomed presentation from the New Sheriff in Town.  Good grooming is delightful but there is something to be said for honest transparency..  

Buried in the grooming is salesmanship, of which we have plenty.

No doubt young people must be held accountable, but not more so then our sophisticated bureaucrats.

The following polster motivated the caller at about 9:58AM, defending “masculine men”.

The last caller spoke of a cultural dust-up that seemed an attack on “masculine men”.  As one who couldn’t more appreciate the stereotype of “masculine men”, one questions the caller’s worry about promoting the diversity representative of “trans and gay” men…..paraphrase—–that are about Diversity.  What are “masculine men” fearful of?  The pure delight of diversity suggests ability for joie de vie.  Lighten up, “masculine men”, nobody is out to get you; only attempting to forestall the aggression too many see as their duty.

And as we watch “masculine” Trump….AKA forgot to grow up at his advanced age…….sell Bibles for Jesus, how would the character of Jesus be pigeonholed for politics?  One thinks one sees it in installation of Christian Nationalism.

Relax guys, masculinity won’t go out of fashion anymore than will femininity.  But must we mark our territory; and to what end?

Balance is sane.

And as one who self-defined as a thoroughly feminine woman, one purely delights in one’s non-so-aligned sisters.  It’s fun.

One can learn so much.
