LOCAL MIND COLONY

The Southern Tier of NYS seems to be the theater, as they say, for the drama of patriarchal exploitation and quasi-colonization of local neighborhoods.

For example, the hierarchy that speaks in aggressive and violent language of “cracking down” on the locals while protecting their out-of-town big-money campaign donors, is the poster child of violation of civil rights, along with human rights and natural rights, for cash.

A local citizen wished to speak of de-funding a patriarchal marked-out territory in law enforcement.  This would have been the opening to a conversation about what our local law enforcement should be.  Instead the heavy hammer of authority slammed down on any attempt at conversation, that probably would have addressed a particularly nasty system of misogyny, to name one illness of this system, and surely would have stopped short of de-funding of the BPD.

Meanwhile…………the JCPD is merrily running a law enforcement system that is friendly toward “the other”, and apparently with salutary results, as pertains to JCPD citizen contributions.  Picture that.  But no doubt the fellas in Broome/Binghamton are feeling especially totalitarian, satisfying some internal emptiness.

Proposal to dissolve Binghamton City Police receives first hearing in City Council

The measure was submitted to the council’s agenda by John Solak, a Binghamton resident and a frequent critic of local government. If the referendum, entitled the Police Choice Act, passes both the council and a November vote, the department’s powers will be transferred to the state police and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

“Referendum [is] to be forwarded to [the Board of Elections] by Aug. 1, 2024 for placement on [the] November ballot,” Solak wrote as part of the measure’s executive summary.

Mayor Kraham blasts city council for floating constituent’s proposal to ‘dissolve’ Binghamton Police Department  — BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham shared his brief and sharp opinion Tuesday morning after Binghamton City Council entertained a city resident’s proposal to get rid of the Binghamton Police Department.—end of wbng info–

Surely not illegal, but decidedly not democratic (small d), electoral interference can be intuited in actions of so much of capitalistic hierarchical patriarchy.  Control of players by big-money campaign donors may be the corruption, via Citizens United, that these types of collaboration haven’t been addressed within the purview of racketeering.  This may be a topic for discussion, sans local hierarchical “crack down” on Speech.

House Speaker Mike Johnson to travel to Binghamton for event with Rep. Molinaro

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., will travel to Binghamton Thursday for an event with Republican U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro focused on law enforcement funding and public safety.

The Thursday meeting will be at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and is said to feature sheriff’s deputies, neighboring law enforcement, other first responders and families.

Johnson’s trip comes as Molinaro seeks reelection in the 19th Congressional District. Broome County is the most-populous county there and could play a large role in in the upcoming election. Molinaro is being challenged by Democrat Josh Riley, who is from Endicott, a village just outside Binghamton. Molinaro flipped the seat in 2022, defeating Riley by about 4,500 votes.

New congressional lines approved by the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission last week could change the makeup of the congressional district. Data compiled by CUNY Mapping Service shows the district could go from a +5% Biden district to +1% Biden district, potentially giving Molinaro a boost. The maps still need to be approved by the Democratic-controlled state Legislature.

And so, keeping in mind our ignorance about history that promotes the sorry state of affairs of mediocrity in high places with which we must labor in 2024, and so as to avoid leaving everyone with an emptier feeling inside, consider an antidote.

Due to our sorry state of education, powers-tha- be have inculcated into the youth of America,  a hubris and superficiality that implies humanity is a component of “the economy” rather than a species of the sacred.  Some of the powers-that-be are furthering this uncomfortable concept as Christian nationalism, to be superimposed over our democratic Constitutional Republic.  And before being “corrected” that “we are not a democracy, we are a Republic”, one raises the labeling of the PRC as communism, when they are also a Constitutional Republic  Anywhoo……

One is reading an especially insightful book entitled Classical Mythology in Literature, Art, and Music.by Philip Mayerson.

Classical Mythology in Literature, Art, and Music Originally published in the 1960s, this standard illustrated work covers the gods and heroes of the Classical world, with special emphasis on the influence Classical mythology has had on literature, art and music in Western civilization.

–end of book info–

As one who has a difficult time internalizing the relevance of classical mythology, this book has changed that ignorance to some extent.  Once upon a time our educational system was rife with classical discussion.  That has changed to a system of crass capitalism and hierarchy.  And so humanity is transformed into a cog in the machinery of commerce.

With this backdrop, classical mythology makes little sense.  And so go modern mediocrity of American youth, one may suggest.

And then along came Philip Mayerson.  Along with the reading of several radical books not necessarily approved by hierarchical Establishment, some people have come to understand the bait-and-switch of institutional religion that seems so self-interested in their promotion of capitalism.  (And so we have a quasi-alzheimer’s-orange savior vying for positions in high places)  (This is not to ignore mentioning the equally curious Biden)

But about classical mythology that was extant, discussed, and a portion of the mindset during the era of Jesus Christ, who must have also been aware of and influenced by the culture, and also which classical mythology was well understood by The Founders, since We The People are influenced by the impact of such culture, and such information is specifically denied in our educational process; we may wish to connect the dots.

In the book by Philip Mayerson, not only has the mythology and the gods been described, but the stories have been referred back into literature, art and music.  The literature, art and music teachings have been neglected in our educational system in order to make room for training into service to capitalism.  This is lucrative to hierarchical Establishment but does little to nothing for We The People.

In referring to music, art, and literature, mythology crosses the chasm about which patriarchy is so dolefully uninformed.  That would be the values that aren’t for sale.  But then, under our system, that’s the point for dictatorship and servitude for the masses.

It is only a short step from there to the Southern Tier law enforcement/government/commercial “crack down” on Speech.  What else is there to be done?

And contrary to the stark words from hierarchy about “crack down” on Speech about police de-funding, a relevant governmental body would attempt to hear the substance of said Speech.  A word to the wise……….The Former Russian Whites needed to hear more harshly from We The People before it became the Former Soviet Union, which also took the hierarchical tact of communism, which is the opposite side of the coin from capitalism.
