MAGICAL MESSAGES UPLIFT ESTABLISHMENT

The topic for call-in discussions on C-Span this morning was about the Supreme Court decision negating Affirmative Action. This opens the door to a perspective about capitalism and democracy, that are opposite concepts.
Affirmative Action seems to be about welcoming everyone into institutions that are promoted by Establishment. Entrance into this system relates to status. Status connotes ability to gain economically.
Alternatively outside the auspices of Establishment, anyone is quite capable of engineering a lifestyle and education that is at least as excellent as any to be found under the patriarchal yoke of Establishment.
An example is Tulsa, Oklahoma. https://www.tulsahistory.org/exhibit/1921-tulsa-race-massacre/ —
The 1921 Attack on Greenwood was one of the most significant events in Tulsa’s history. Following World War I, Tulsa was recognized nationally for its affluent African American community known as the Greenwood District. This thriving business district and surrounding residential area was referred to as “Black Wall Street.” In June 1921, a series of events nearly destroyed the entire Greenwood area.

Tulsa seems to be a success story of autonomy aside from Establishment. This seems to invite violence from some within Establishment.
Another example one suggests is Martha Stewart. In her own right and according to her own tastes and inclinations, Ms. Stewart created wealth and notoriety according to her own personality. That Martha Stewart, among a cadre of highly questionable investment personalities, was incarcerated for insider trading seems noteworthy.
Stewart’s natural business instincts and leadership skills helped her to transform her small business into a media empire. She joined Kmart as an image and product consultant in 1987, and persuaded the retailer to sell her growing line of products. She eventually became partners with the firm. This partnership helped her gain the capital necessary to break free of Time Warner, publisher of her highly successful Martha Stewart Living magazine. When Stewart and Time Warner disagreed on her intentions to cross-sell and market her publishing, television, merchandising, and Web interests, she used everything she owned to buy back the brand rights of her products and

One might suggest Ms. Stewart was simply better at the game than institutionalized Establishment.
Affirmative Action seems related to the same educational system that has indebted countless of American youngsters and their families. That educational debt doesn’t qualify for bankruptcy is another instances of control by Establishment.
A degree from institutionalized educational entities can be imagined more as indoctrination into capitalism than as genuine education. Yet this is the track sold to youngsters as their only path to meaningful existence upon Earth.
In other words, depending upon democracy and one’s personal inclinations, one can create a life that is deeply eloquent. Such a life wouldn’t, however, carry with it the institutionalized stamp of approval. And so such a person or community would function outside the control and auspices of capitalistic Establishment.
And so as in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Martha Stewart dust-up, Establishment will step in to “make an example”. And so goes patriarchy.
Another monumental example is the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Some old Feminists who remember and lived the pre-Roe v. Wade days, warned youngsters that their rights were in peril. It was actually quite obvious. Dependence upon Establishment to “allow” rights counters democracy. Establishment, meanwhile, informs that capitalism and democracy are one and the same, when they are quite opposite.
And so as in the Martha Stewart situation and the Tulsa, Oklahoma Massacre, 50 percent of the population needed to be reminded they are nothing more than objects in a patriarchal game.

Capitalism is a system of elite superstition, one may posit. — https://mronline.org/2023/06/29/the-magic-of-capitalism/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-magic-of-capitalism —
The bottom line is that the RBA is trying to make wage earners poorer to save them from rising prices. That’s the magical logic of capitalism. If this magic appears so dazzling that you can’t figure out how it works, you may just belong to the wrong social class.
How so? Well, take Lowe’s exhortation for people to spend less.
Those on lower incomes are already trying to spend less on electricity by shivering through winter. According to Lowe, this is for the good of “the economy”. But here’s the rub: the Australian Energy Regulator says prices will jump 20 to 25 percent from July, which comes on top of a 15 percent rise over the last year. In these conditions, even when you try to use less, it ends up costing more—it’s the David Copperfield economy, where the more you pay, the more something disappears.

Control is profitable to Establishment.
From lakotalaw—-
If you’ve been with us for more than a year, you know we’ve been incubating a teen center at Standing Rock. A separate nonprofit managing this effort uses the building we own in McLaughlin, South Dakota (Bear Soldier District) to run operations. Many of you sent us positive feedback about the teen center when it launched, so I’m happy to report that the project’s doing well! It’s now a reliable space for the reservation’s youth to learn, play, and enjoy — so much so that we’ve decided to donate our building to our nonprofit allies, providing a stable foundation for their ongoing work to lift up the next generations.
Because we’re assuming substantial administrative, logistical, and legal costs as we transfer the title to the building, today we ask for your financial support. Help gift this important building to the people by donating today! Your contribution to Lakota Law will also help offset other housing-related costs we accrue each month. These include operating our kinship care home (also in McLaughlin) and paying for lodging while we’re traveling to Thacker Pass in Nevada to fight the lithium mine that endangers frontline Native communities, a sacred massacre site, and a delicate ecosystem. As you know, we do whatever it takes and go wherever we’re needed to provide for the people and win Native justice — and your generosity makes it possible!
At Lakota Law, we straddle universes: while we recognize that radical social justice work can’t happen if institutional concerns become too dominant, we also know that without structure — buildings, equipment, and regular travel to the frontlines — progressive intentions often won’t hit their targets. So we strive to strike the right balance, doing our very best to put your resources to ideal uses. Thank you from the center of our hearts for all your assistance!
Once the transfer of title for the teen center is complete, we’ll be in touch again with more updates about the ongoing work to serve children at Standing Rock.
Wopila tanka — thank you, always, for your support!
