CAPITALISTIC USE OF THE FEMININE

A remembrance of Pat Schroeder on CBS Nightly report yesterday mentioned that she was appointed to a Commission but needed to share the seat with a male associate due to her status as 1/2 a person in that time and place.  Some women remember those days.  We may return to them.  Meanwhile too often it feels like the women who endured those places and times are expected to “just get over it”.  And so a road to a return to that time is paved.

Gender-based violence is ubiquitous and is often accompanied by other forms of violence that enable and situate it—instances of disciplining that are constituted by the normativization of heterosexual relationships and traditional family nuclei; subjugations in the name of imperialist and colonial divisions of the world; symbolic dimensions of violence; biopolitical violence, state, military and police violence; ecological violence which is affecting us at alarmingly high rates and so on.

CBS Nightly News Report about Pat Schroeder—-      https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/aYdN9UASx2Z5r7PbNllNoxrRraWQJwAq/

A presumption seems obvious that women as counted as 1/2 a person may play into patriarchal overreach in determining use of female bodies.

The 2008 Financial Meltdown isn’t so far in the past that many Americans are not aware of that time.  That we see a resurgence of “failures” of financial entities after the bail-out of “too big to fail” in 2008, by the public, of perpetrators of the fiasco, is quite capitalistic.  Money is made in the highs and lows of the economy, with those in control pulling the strings.  String pullers too often buy lawmakers into positions of power byway of Citizens United.  If we are to support capitalism, this will be business as usual.

For the average family, the highs and lows of capitalism are a nightmare and are very costly.  Advertising and indoctrination, along with education, seem to have convinced Americans that this is what everyone wants.  Should we have open discussions as to this presumption?

Some people see benefit to degrowth or a steady-state economy.  https://steadystate.org/  –goal with widespread public support. We pursue this mission by:

  • educating citizens, organizations, and policy makers on the conflict between economic growth and (1) environmental protection, (2) ecological and economic sustainability, and (3) national security and international stability;
  • promoting the steady state economy as a desirable alternative to economic growth;
  • studying the means to establish a steady state economy.

Our Commitment

CASSE is an organization that explores economic growth in earnest, including its downsides. We refuse to ignore the costs of economic growth, and our position sets the record straight. We recognize the conflict between economic growth and various goals for society, and we stand up for rational macroeconomic policies. Continuous economic growth on a finite planet is wishful thinking. We confront the truth that there are limits to growth, and we examine other possibilities for managing our economic affairs.

A steady-state economy won’t enjoy laws from legislators to promote this idea, due to big-money campaign contributions, ostensibly via Citizens United, for example.  Also one may take a look into www.ALEC.org for clarification as to how bills are engendered.

Legislators who make laws appear to possess inside information, and seem to use it to personal advantage.  This is a reason voters need to recognize and persuade change at the ballot box.

Legislators seem quite enthusiastic with a burdensome Pentagon Budget.  —  https://portside.org/2023-03-14/60-faith-groups-urge-congress-dramatically-slash-pentagon-budget?utm_source=portside-general&utm_medium=email     –More than 60 faith-based organizations on Tuesday urged the U.S. Congress to impose major cuts on the bloated military budget as President Joe Biden pushes for a nearly $30 billion increase and Republicans demand even bigger spending hike.

“The country is sprinting towards a trillion-dollar budget for weapons and war,” the groups wrote in a new letter. “We cannot continue down this morally bankrupt path.”

By the way, war has historically been difficult for women and children, but often profitable to hierarchical Establishment.

We can remember that frenetic lifestyle based on chasing a dollar is one among many.   Our (using the word “our” very loosely) Native American traditions remind of a different way.  Incidentally this way honors Mother Earth.  —  https://www.facebook.com/rema.loeb/posts/pfbid02hkroroSkmokVvo4gLCtdR3nDcVaSuhY22Dj37bLS7KjnEnnN9LWcxDs1og8WaDpTl    —

Maryland’s Governor Larry Hogan isn’t implicated in this situation following.  This does however remind that to take for granted that those in high positions of power enjoy superior intelligence or integrity may be incorrect.  –https://www.aol.com/federal-manhunt-underway-man-larry-215027712.html          –McGrath was scheduled to appear in federal court in Baltimore on charges related to his tenure running the Maryland Environmental Service before joining Hogan’s office as chief of staff in 2020. The 2021 indictment against McGrath says he sought to enrich himself personally by using his position as executive director of the agency and his role as chief of staff to the governor to engineer a payment from the agency he shouldn’t have received. Prosecutors also allege that McGrath falsified his time sheets while he took a vacation to Europe and that he stole money for classes at Harvard. McGrath resigned from Hogan’s office weeks after assuming the chief-of-staff job after an investigation found he wasn’t forthcoming about the $230,000 severance package he had received for leaving the quasi-government agency, according to court filings.

McGrath has pleaded not guilty on all charges. His attorney, Joseph Murtha, said he doesn’t know where his client is.

As to Larry Hogan, reports suggest interest in this individual as a Presidential candidate.  And so We The People may wish to consider closely the views of said candidates.  Some people believe that in 2020, voters took on faith, endorsements of questionable Presidential candidates, rather than to us the native intelligence of each voter to recognize hypocrisy and campaign obfuscation.

One was alerted to Larry Hogan when he, one believes on a C-Span presentation, put words into the mouth of President George Washington when Hogan ‘splained that President Washington approved of the 2-Party system.  FACTually, let’s read the words of President George Washington.  –https://teachingamericanhistory.org/blog/george-washington-on-political-parties/    –Washington touches on a number of themes in his Address, but of particular interest is his concern about political parties. Like the other founders, Washington considered parties to be the bane of republican government. Parties were factions that threatened to divide the electorate into competing groups who might use violence to advance their interests. Parties might also disrupt the separation of powers, especially in the case of unified government where loyalty to a party could interfere with the system of checks and balances. Parties also threateend to stand in the way of effective representation, with elected officials tempted to represent only fellow party members and to leave opposition groups without a voice in government. Taken together, it is little wonder that the framers did not want parties participating in American politics. Instead, the founders tried to create a nonpartisan political system.

Of interest is an increasing difficulty in bringing anti-Establishment FACTS.  Six months ago to bring his info up on line would have been simple (on the topic of warning about political parties).  Today one had to search for it beyond info about “American prosperity”.  Some people believe Establishment of the D&R duopoly have permitted dictatorial propensities to have gone obvious.  And so we can pay attention, if we wish.

We also need to recall the 2-tier justice system that permits Establishment criminal or unethical behavior to go unchallenged, while incarcerating, for example, pot smokers…..jay walkers……people identified by cops as having a bad attitude……

Revolutions don’t require violence.

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

 This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.
One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?
The Democratic Branch of the Republican/Democratic Duopoly are especially functional in voter suppression—–https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbdkuU1edw          —#GreenSocialist Notes #76
Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7kn2-GEmM       —

Ross Perot in 1992 on NAFTA and the “Giant Sucking Sound”

Centralization is the lifeblood of the R&D duopoly.  It’s the way to enforce capitalism onto workers in 2022.———————–We can do better———-

That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
