The topic has been liability on social internet platforms.  Listening to the Supreme Court discussion about Free Speech on the internet, one was pleased to hear questions about advertising, whether obvious or subtle, as worked on the internet social platforms.  

This also raises a question about legislative hesitation to protect the public from general advertising.  Truth in advertising was a phrase one heard in the past, but not so much currently.  

Often when one watches, for example, TV ads that promote childlike use of motor vehicles, the extent to which this not only motivates purchases of over-priced and useless huge trucks, but that also sets in place a mindset of aggression and violence on the public roads that align with the personality of some who are sufficiently aroused by said ads to make said purchase.

News reports this morning in the Southern Tier, following a series of traffic accidents resulting in pedestrian deaths, to be careful.  Regulations are not required where sanity and maturity reigns.  When it doesn’t, predatory advertising may add to the chaos.

Profit doesn’t justify everything.  In a capitalistic system it seems to.

C-Span–8:45AM–paraphrase–Asked by a caller “who are you?” of Todd Harrison, Mr. Harrison explains his entity is an LLC, which seems to indicate a business entity.  Mr. Harrison was discussing the topic of national defense…..AKA war.

Some people might consider the platform of a LLC as flimsy credential for promoting, as did Mr. Harrison, enhanced national security options.  Some people believe The Military-Industrial Complex operates as a euphemism for profiteering byway of imperialism.  

An example may be extraordinary US military bases scattered around the globe, along with the inability to notice a Chinese balloon flying over American nuclear facilities.  Some US citizens are only too aware that “national security” doesn’t seem to extend to the health and well-being of Americans.

Mr. Harrison who works from the safety of his LLC, suggests US agencies call on them for consultation.  As a US citizen, one wonders at the credential of a business entity with an eye on profits, as a fount of knowledge from which the US government draws wisdom to enhance our national security.  That this is suggested doesn’t mean it is a FACT; but rather this may be a new facet in retail advertising.  On this day with Supreme Court Justices querying about Free Speech on social media platforms, one can imagine the squelching of the Free Speech of individuals in obeisance to the interest of business.  

This is a concern considering the Supreme Court Justices appear quite partisan and have been placed into their positions of power by lawmakers bought into public so-called service via Citizens United, which suggests that money is Speech, and which effectively results in Free Speech by individuals sidelined by moneyed interests.

Capitalism on a continuum may be organized crime.
