CLEAN WATER STANDARD RATHER THAN A GOLD STANDARD

Indoctrination means limitation of the ability to generate ideas.  The dollar can be pegged to clean water standards.  Why don’t we try that?

The topic of to what we could peg the dollar was mentioned on C-Span in a really interesting discussion by Davies and Harrigan.  By the way, we could peg the dollar to the stars in the sky.  Are they infinite?  How fun that could be.  But one is still trying to figure out if the stars in the sky are infinite.  Get back to you soon…..

Some people have recognized that fabulous wealth isn’t earned by the sweat of an individual’s brow, but rather by shell games.  Those proficient in this game are elevated within the business world.  Those who are the showmen seem elevated to positions of President in order to be the distraction for the others.

C-Span hosts discussions that invite the public to express opinions and ideas.  The host, due to time constraints, cut short a caller who referred to the following Act of 2012.  The conversation previously had been about gun violence in the USA.  A number of callers suggested the media may be influencing young minds.  Other callers made the connection between violence in the US culture and violence on a governmental level toward other nations.  This seems like a valid connection.

Because time constraints cut short this important caller who mentioned the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012, I had to look this up.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/112th-congress/house-bill/5736#:~:text=Smith%2DMundt%20Modernization%20Act%20of%202012%20%2D%20Amends%20the%20United%20States,abroad%20about%20the%20United%20States%2C    –Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 – Amends the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 to authorize the Secretary of State and the Broadcasting Board of Governors to provide for the preparation and dissemination of information intended for foreign audiences abroad about the United States, including about its people, its history, and the federal government’s policies, through press, publications, radio, motion pictures, the Internet, and other information media, including social media, and through information centers and instructors. (Under current law such authority is restricted to information disseminated abroad, with a limited domestic exception.)

Authorizes the Secretary and the Board to make available in the United States motion pictures, films, video, audio, and other materials prepared for dissemination abroad or disseminated abroad pursuant to such Act, the United States International Broadcasting Act of 1994, the Radio Broadcasting to Cuba Act, or the Television Broadcasting to Cuba Act.

Amends the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1986 and 1987 to prohibit funds for the Department of State or the Board from being used to influence public opinion or propagandizing in the United States. (Under current law such provision applies to the United States Information Agency [USIA].)

Applies such prohibition only to programs carried out pursuant to the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948, the United States International Broadcasting Act of 1994, the Radio Broadcasting to Cuba Act, and the Television Broadcasting to Cuba Act.

States that such provision shall: (1) not prohibit the Department or the Board from providing information about its operations, policies, programs, or program material, or making such information available to members of the media, public, or Congress; (2) not be construed to prohibit the Department from engaging in any medium of information on a presumption that a U.S. domestic audience may be exposed to program material; and (3) apply only to the Department and the Board and to no other federal department or agency.–end of Smith-Mundt Reauthorization Act info–

C-Span–9:05AM–paraphrase–caller—FTX would have been less likely to happen with enforcement of current investment laws.  (That both Democrats and Republicans received large campaign contributions is simply precious.  As a NYS anti-fracking advocate, one was interested in the so-called news conference broadcast to the local public that included local politicians and bureaucrats, local law interpreters, industry-employed law enforcement, industry advocates, and university hierarchy who ‘splained the benefits of permitting occupation of the local environs by an industry that could have been harmful due to pollution, inequality, aggression, man camps, and simple exploitation, that were more nearly investment seminars.)

And in Pa., it got even thornier.—-

https://capitalandmain.com/pennsylvania-lets-polluter-resume-drilling-in-protected-zone-outraging-residents-in-frackings-ground-zero   –On Nov. 29, Coterra Energy and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) signed a consent order allowing the operator, one of the largest natural gas producers in the state, to drill laterally beneath an area that has been mostly fracking-free since 19 households found methane in their water in 2008 and 2009. On November 4, 2009, the DEP signed a consent order tying drilling by Coterra — then called Cabot Oil and Gas, prior to a merger with Cimarex Energy Co. in 2021 — to household water pollution, banning the company from drilling new natural gas wells in the area entirely. Following the new consent order, Coterra will now be allowed to drill horizontally underneath the 9-square-mile protected zone, as long as the top hole of a well is drilled outside of it. (Fracking involves drilling vertically for thousands of feet underground, then horizontally, carving an L-shaped path.)

Mark Cancian on Russia-Ukraine Conflict

CSIS’s Mark Cancian discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict with an emphasis on weapons provided by the United States and NATO allies.–end of c-span info–

The last question in this call-in was from a woman who asked whether money laundering is happening in the extraordinary influx of US cash to Ukraine (by way of military equipment).  Mr. Cancian wisely answers…..”No”……(nuff said).

Coincidentally the grid is down in many parts of the USA, as it is in Ukraine.  The reasons differ but the inconvenience is similar.  In Upstate NY the grid fails intermittently to the extent that forecasts of a snowstorm instigate filling buckets with water.  Complaints to industry may be misunderstood due to inability of Upstate NY’ers to adequately express themselves in Spanish.——–https://www.syracuse.com/news/2007/06/spanish_company_to_acquire_nys.html

But then the same industrial talk-to-the-hand approach may be ubiquitous.

From lakotalaw—–Greetings from Lakota Country, where two blizzards just dumped several feet of snow and knocked out power for many of our people. Here’s hoping you’re staying warm wherever you are! Of course, no matter the weather, we keep doing all we can to look out for our relatives — including our ongoing fight to end the Dakota Access pipeline (DAPL).

Winning this battle is critical. Just last week, we received news of yet another pipeline disaster. One month after the Keystone pipeline increased the amount of oil it’s carrying, it ruptured and dumped 14,000 barrels — or nearly 600,000 gallons — of toxic tar sands crude in Kansas. So today, we bring you the eleventh chapter of our Dakota Water Wars video series, co-produced by the Lakota People’s Law Project, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and the Great Plains Water Alliance. Give it a watch, and you’ll see how hard we fought to keep the Dakota Access pipeline (DAPL) from doubling its flow rate, and just how far the oil company went to downplay the potential consequences.

This latest Keystone spill — its third major leak in the past five years — is the second largest domestic pipeline incident ever recorded. It’s going to be nearly impossible to properly clean up, And, because Keystone is now carrying more oil, the problem is exacerbated. In our video (at the top of the blog, which also contains all the other Dakota Water Wars chapters), you’ll hear a lot about “worst case discharge.” That sounds bad because it is. The math says that when a pipeline inevitably leaks, it’s going to be worse the more oil it’s carrying.

If DAPL spills where it crosses the Mni Sose — the Missouri River — just upstream from the Standing Rock Nation, it will threaten everything we hold dear: our drinking water, our pristine landscape, plants and animals, our way of life. That’s why we gathered by the thousands in 2016 and 2017 to prevent DAPL. And given the danger from increasing the oil flow, it should be easy to understand why we rallied again in 2019 to stop the doubling of its capacity to more than 1 million barrels per day.

We cannot accept this illegal and dangerous pipeline (the Army Corps of Engineers still has yet to produce a valid Environmental Impact Statement for DAPL, as mandated by the courts). We won’t stop raising awareness about how it imperils both people and planet, and we’ll continue — with your help — to fight using every available method until the Black Snake is defeated once and for all.

Wopila tanka — my deep appreciation for your solidarity!

Mythology seems to be the psychological interpretation of humanity.  Perhaps a manic form of progress practiced in modern-day USA ignores to our detriment the fundamental of the psyche.  Could this have been the attention paid to the classics in the educational system of bygone centuries?  The pure joy of reading the classics have been a mainstay throughout life.  Having recently delved into Chaucer, one came across the character of Chichevache.  This was found in The Clerk’s Tale and refers to Griselda.  The story of Griselda is revolting, unless, of course, one is a Stepford Wives proponent.

https://pantheon.org/articles/c/chichevache.html    –“Lean cow.” A fabulous beast which fed solely on obedient wives and which was thus all skin and bone because its food was extremely scarce. Its antipode is the Bicorn, which fed on good and enduring husbands.

Perhaps an ignition of undermining the self-esteem of youngsters in an educational system based upon capitalism that uplifts as role models, those who are financially winning using tactics that may or may not mirror integrity, is skewing the thinking of too many youngsters.

The story of Griselda, for example, amplifies the revolting character of authority as compared to the expectations from the recipient of such actions.  In other words, what does it mean to be among hierarchy as pertains to humanity.  And how about those enablers?

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.
One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?
The Democratic Branch of the Republican/Democratic Duopoly are especially functional in voter suppression—–https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbdkuU1edw          —#GreenSocialist Notes #76
Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7kn2-GEmM       —

Ross Perot in 1992 on NAFTA and the “Giant Sucking Sound”

Centralization is the lifeblood of the R&D duopoly.  It’s the way to enforce capitalism onto workers in 2022.———————–We can do better———-

That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
