NATURAL RIGHT TO THINK

The jolting sudden media preoccupation with monarchy lately only highlights the depravity one cannot ignore in our culture that mirrors feudal systems.

The French Revolution was an important event in history.https://countercurrents.org/2022/09/its-as-if-the-french-revolution-never-happened/?swcfpc=1        —

And they are part of a larger trend in skewed distribution of wealth worldwide – that has created a new aristocracy, with the mass media as its clergy.

And these older and new type of monarchies are bolstered by a special breed of imperious, right-wing politicians – representing racist, religious or nationalist lobbies of different kinds. These are completely whimsical characters frequently in and out of power – Donald Trump, Narendra Modi, Jair Bolsanaro,  Victor Orban, Rodrigo Duterte – who may appear to be jokers but  believe they are royalty themselves.

Backed by big moneybags – who want to escape public scrutiny or control-  the real aim of such half-clown, half-royal characters is to destroy the modern idea of an elected parliament, an independent judiciary and governance on  the basis of a written constitution – all institutions and principles innovated by the French Revolution.

The two revolutions undoubtedly did liberate very large numbers of people from oppression, within and outside their territories. They also brought a balance to the global power equation, dominated as it was by colonial, racist and imperialist nations that were unchallenged for centuries.

However, they too lost their way at some point by dropping ‘liberty’ and then ‘fraternity’ from their list of priorities – in order to fight real and imagined ‘counter-revolutionaries’. That, in turn, made it impossible to attain ‘equality’ either, with lifeless party bureaucrats finally taking over. Today, both Russia and China represent despotic systems that have none of the values of either the French or original socialist revolutions.

US flag waving and chest thumping are nearly comical if they weren’t so frightening.  FACTually speaking, the US has had more than a few politicians running our nation with historical family ties to Hitler’s Germany and government.  We are only too familiar with the commercial/governmental revolving door in the USA.  That the revolving door extends to other nations shouldn’t be a surprise.   —  https://socialism.com/fs-article/us-genocide-and-bigotry-helped-create-nazi-race-law/ —Hitler’s American Model by Yale Law School professor James Whitman is a 220-page bombshell. It should be required reading in every high school. It tells the story of how German attorneys studied U.S. law, culture and history to develop the legal underpinnings of German fascism.

Instead they zeroed in on western expansion and the genocide of Native Americans as a model for their own ambition to conquer Eastern Europe, subjugate its citizens and force all Jews onto “reservations” (which in practice became concentration camps).

By the way, the phrase “run government like a business” is probably as close to a definition of fascism as is possible.

Intelligence is a tricky presumption.   Some people believe the current trend to respect violence and predatory behavior that is mistaken for a superiority of some type, may be a type of indoctrination.  We may have a serious deficit in ability to acknowledge intelligence that is different from that which any one individual will ever understand.   That patriarchy has preempted validity, is a humorous display about which one speaks.  One might say the precise hubris which is itself a moral failing, stands in the way of patriarchy assessing itself, complicates to the issue.

Diverse scholars don’t just sing the same standards differently; they grow up learning different songbooks.

To the extent I heeded it, my dad’s mantra kept me out of trouble as a young man. But as Aristotle might have said (if he hadn’t himself been a gatekeeping old coot), the best life for a human being consists not only in avoiding stupidity, but also in helping diverse intelligences flourish in conversation with each other.

Human intelligence could very well be measured by ability to recognize diverse intelligence.  —  https://aeon.co/essays/why-nonhuman-beings-should-be-granted-personhood-rights?utm_source=Aeon+Newsletter&utm_campaign=321ebc89b7-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2022_09_15_12_49&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_411a82e59d-321ebc89b7-70464341          –But all these kinds of welfare-based protections prioritise human interests over the needs of animals, who can still be exploited and used as a means to an end in zoos and aquariums, research laboratories and other situations, as long as they don’t suffer ‘unnecessary’ cruelty while being confined to cages, forced to perform, and vivisected. Unfortunately, what is considered unnecessary is defined entirely by how humans use the other animals.

Some cultures have a more aware style of intelligence toward non-human sentient being.  A few examples might be Native Americans, the East, and Eastern Europe and Russia.  The USA seems to hold a particularly hierarchical view toward non-human sentient beings, coincidentally along with a curious White Supremacist obsession.

Our technologically sophisticated youngsters have been curiously reluctant, observation will explain, to speak out about a future into which they will step.  One supposes they’ve only been gathering their thoughts before releasing the the pearls of wisdom that may be too diverse for some oldsters to comprehend.  Yet one is buoyed with hearing little snippets however minimal.  — https://mronline.org/2022/09/15/idahos-far-right-suffers-election-loss-to-18-year-old-climate-activist/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=idahos-far-right-suffers-election-loss-to-18-year-old-climate-activist&mc_cid=e91a555fe0&mc_eid=2833cdb99b     —

THE NATIONWIDE CAMPAIGN to stifle discussions of race and gender in public schools through misinformation and bullying suffered a reversal in Idaho on Monday, when a high school senior vocally opposed to book bans and smears against LGBTQ+ youth took a seat on the Boise school board.Rajbhandari, who turned 18 days before the election, was already well-known in the school district as a student organizer on climateenvironmentalvoting rights, and gun control issues. But in the closing days of the campaign, his opponent, Steve Schmidt, was endorsed by the far-right Idaho Liberty Dogs, which in response helped Rajbhandari win the endorsement of Boise’s leading newspaper, the Idaho Statesman.Rajbhandari, a third-generation Idahoan whose father is from Nepal, was elected to a two-year term with 56 percent of the vote.

Rajbhandari, who started leading Extinction Rebellion climate protests in Boise when he was 15, is familiar with the group’s tactics. “We used to have climate strikes, like back in ninth grade, and they would come with AR-15s,” he said, bringing rifles to intimidate “a bunch of kids protesting for a livable future.”

This little bit of information about an 18-year-old citizen winning this school board election makes one absolutely ecstatic.

From lakotalaw  — As we near this year’s midterm elections in November, I’m pleased to report that good things are happening that bode well for Native participation in our democracy. If you’ve been following us for a bit, you may recall that the Lakota People’s Law Project has been participating as a plaintiff in a landmark lawsuit against the State of South Dakota for its repeated noncompliance with the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA, also sometimes called the “motor voter” law). A while back, we let you know we were close to a settlement that would make access to voting much easier for residents — especially Native People — in South Dakota. Today, I’m happy to announce that we’ve won! The case is officially closed, and we achieved everything we set out to do. You can check out the article in Native News Online right here.

As the news story above indicates, voters all across South Dakota (but especially Native People, who have been disproportionately affected by the state’s violations of federal law) will greatly benefit from the settlement. The Federal Court found that, among other violations, South Dakota failed to automatically update voter registration addresses of voters who change their driver’s license address; refused to provide voter registration services to individuals who lack an existing driver’s license number or Social Security number; failed to forward completed voter registration applications to county election officials in a timely way; didn’t properly train state employees or conduct internal oversight sufficient to ensure NVRA compliance; and failed to ensure that driver’s license “issue sites” — common in Indian Country and other rural areas in South Dakota — provide voter registration services.

The settlement ensures that, over the next three years, South Dakota will implement policies and practices to fully comply with the NVRA. Among the key elements are a provision that the state designate a statewide NVRA coordinator to oversee compliance with the law by all relevant state agencies. It also mandates that the state develop a comprehensive NVRA curriculum to provide annual training to county election officials, employees of driver’s license offices, and public assistance agency workers on their voter registration responsibilities. Importantly to South Dakota’s Native residents, the state must also amend its voter registration application form to allow voters without a postal address to provide a description of the physical location of their residence.

Thanks to this lawsuit, over the coming years, Native People in South Dakota should be given a fair shake at election time. That will be crucial in building the change we want to see. So now, it’s time to make sure my relatives exercise their right to vote. And on that note, I’m very excited to announce that Lakota Law’s 2022 Native vote campaign is just about ready to launch! Keep an eye on your email next week, because we have a big announcement coming your way. We think you’ll be as excited about it as we are. Please stay tuned!

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.
One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?
The Democratic Branch of the Republican/Democratic Duopoly are especially functional in voter suppression—–https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbdkuU1edw          —#GreenSocialist Notes #76
Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7kn2-GEmM       —

Centralization is the lifeblood of the R&D duopoly.  It’s the way to enforce capitalism onto workers in 2022.———————–We can do better———-

That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

Regardless of which character sits in the Oval Office, We The People have work to do to maintain principles of our democratic (small d) Constitutional republic.  Several items to challenge—*We need the integrity of ranked-choice voting so voters won’t feel compelled to “hold your nose and vote”*Censored debates must be stopped.  The Democratic/Republican duopoly pretends to legitimate debates in what is nothing other than another campaign show.  Independent debates run by uninterested sponsors such as The League of Women Voters, must be restored.  (Access www.debates.org to understand the extent of duopoly control).  The so-called Debate Commission is a corporation to promote the Democratic corporation and Republican corporation, not to inform We The People*Challenge and stop gerrymandering that is a trick especially of the Republican branch of the duopoly.*Stop voter suppression by political Parties, and especially confront and stop Party suppression, which is the over-arching approach to voter suppression.  Party suppression seems to have been the responsibility of the Democratic corporation*Promote by law ranked-choice voting, so we won’t be told again, by D&R duopoly, to “hold your nose and vote”
If these issues are handled, our next elections can be honorable.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!

Along with Climate Change, many people oppose the imperialism of the USA under control of the Republican/Democratic duopoly.  Use of the wealth of our nation should be to enhance quality of life for We The People rather than for imperialism.  Some people vote accordingly.
