BAIT AND SWITCH IN POLITICS

The good news about the state of governance in the USA is that more of the electorate is beginning to pay attention and question those who are in power.

The Language We Use To Talk About Inequality, Power, And Class Matters—–In the US, discourses of inequality seldom are rooted to the nation’s long history of violent class conflict. Two examples of that history which come quickly to mind are the 1892 Homestead steel strike in Pittsburgh, which earned a place in labor history as the Homestead Massacre and the 1921 coal strike known as the Battle of Blair Mountain in which workers saw their homes bombed as they faced army troops. These were extreme but not unique moments in the history of labor. Oppressive working conditions and inadequate pay have never been an accident or the result of an oversight — they have been for profit.

The overarching tool to maintain hierarchical-Establishment power is money and laws are in place due to politicians bought into the legislator byway to a large part for Citizens United that legalizes without legitimizing corruption in elections.  This topic of Citizens United is seldom discussed, even on platforms such as C-Span.  Hosts on so-called news outlets such as C-Span, MSNBC, CNN, and FOX are paid to an extent that far outpace the salaries of the general public, that encourages censorship on this topic.  Imagine for a moment, with repeal of Citizens United and strict assurance against corruption in politics, what our governance could be.

The bait-and-switch that money is Speech is just that…..bait-and-switch.

The Russia/USA-Proxy War is dangerous but good for “protecting American interests overseas”, which seems to be the euphemism for American oligarchs.

This real and ideological antagonist was communism during the Cold War. After that chapter ended, who would be the enemy? Who is the other in the mirror to necessitate arming ourselves to the teeth? Who could be this other antagonist that the west could unify against under the auspices of the Pentagon? The creation of an enemy, its dehumanisation, its exaggeration, and its persecution are the common characteristics of bellicose thought that, let us never forget, aims for a policy of domination that is inherently reactionary.

Sarahana Shrestha, the climate organizer who surprised a longtime incumbent in last week’s Democratic primary in the 103rd Assembly District, was at the Kingston home of her friend, Ulster County Legislator Phil Erner, to watch the results roll in on election night.

Climate advocates say that Shrestha’s win reflects a real hunger on the part of local voters to see the state break through its legislative inertia and start acting on climate problems.–end of portside info–

About the womens’ right to control her own body, some people have warned for over 25 years that women would lose this natural right to patriarchy.  The signs were obvious including complacence of women and aggression by patriarchy.

The ERA hasn’t been adopted and should be.

Unsettled rights issues are excellent targets for either side of the Democratic/Republican duopoly, and the right to an abortion is no different.  To settle this campaign issue once and for all would remove one issue for which each branch of the duopoly can pontificate and fund raise.

The Democratic/Republican duopoly uses unaddressed topics as campaigning tools.  This is possibly the reason nothing is accomplished in government.  Another tool used by the Republican/Democratic duopoly is censorship of 3rd Parties including protection against ballot access.  FACTually speaking, because 3rd Parties seem most serious about accomplishing policy to empower the public, to attain this end would eliminate campaigning strategies for the Republican/Democratic duopoly.

A glaring and unaddressed presumption about the 2020 Presidential election is as follows—-

**The right of Choice for women was a looming and real and immediate issue

**The right of Choice for women during the 2020 Presidential campaign went unaddressed by the D&R duopoly.

**The Democratic Party used misogyny in their 2020 Presidential campaign, and to avoid innuendo, one refers to relentless attack against women…..and to use the phrase coined by Democratic strategists, “especially white women”.

**Now that Choice is under serious attack, the Democratic Party is using abortion along with an innuendo that this is primarily a problem for “black and brown women”.

**This may or may not be primarily a problem for “black and brown women”, but what’s up with the surgical separation of such a women-oriented policy, other than politics?

**And again, rather than blaming women…..”especially white women”… for the woes of the world, but never raising the topic of Choice, and now using Choice as the reason to vote for Democrats, serious suspicions are raised, for those who are thoughtful.

While raising the above queries may open one to charges of racism, one challenges any Democrat to answer the question of bait-and-switch.  One suspects that charges of racism are easier than explanations about political turpitude.

****As one who would be perfectly contented to retain the Senate if they adhered to Oaths of Office more than to Citizens United campaign donations, one is interested in a topic raised as to the reason we maintain the US Senate—-

This is a reminder of how much we don’t know.  This brings one around to Howie Hawkins, who continues to impress with original thought.  We also could acknowledge Hawkins often speaks to censored information.

One such topic about which one would never have even considered, is whether the USA needs The Senate.  Apparently The Senate is little other than expensive window dressing, promoting hierarchical interests, and too often placed in positions of power by big-money via Citizens United.  But the public gets to fund this curiosity of pompous supremacy.  Who knew?

The Democratic Branch of the Republican/Democratic Duopoly are especially functional in voter suppression—–https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbdkuU1edw          —#GreenSocialist Notes #76

Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.

The US Constitution doesn’t seem to sanction elections run by political Parties, and to permit control of political debates by political Parties seems equally corrupt.

That “we are a 2-Party system” is a fabrication of the Republican/Democratic duopoly and spread by MSM.  In FACT the majority of voters aren’t either registered Democratic or Republican.  The censorship about this info must be envied by bureaucrats of the Former USSR and their simplistic style of 1-Party elections.

WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FROM FINAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE–end of lwv info–Murray Bookchin, who founded social ecology, a theory that strongly influenced early Green Socialist thought, strongly advocated the discussion and study group as the first step of any revolutionary movement. A group of individuals meets to expand their knowledge of radical thought and form a radical intellectual community; through the give and take of discussion, can eventually form ideas for next steps in organizing and political activity. According to Bookchin, study groups help create solidarity and a shared language — with a shared coherent vision — for building a mass, organizing, political movement!
