These news stories may be meaningless, but taken as a whole, a discussion could be conceivable about the role of law enforcement in promoting laws that generally is left to elected Representatives of The People.  Also, when law roles of enforcement and elected Representatives become blurred, this can raise questions about corruption and authoritarian interjection within a generally peaceful society.

Law enforcement has a critical role in society to protect and serve the public that can be confused with roles of enforcers in more dictatorial societies than is enjoyed in the USA.
The political Party corporations who have insinuated the USA is a 2-Party system, seems to be a vanguard of spreading plutocracy.  Citizens United is heavily implicated, also.
These seem to be topics that could be discussed.
