NATIVE AMERICAN DAY
A cynic could view Biden’s expression of respect for Native Americans to almost be a bulwark against integration of ideas from Native Americans that are said to have inspired the US Constitution. To celebrate a day to honor Native Americans seems more salutary than actual interaction from the US government that seems instead to wish to betray principles of a democratic (small d) Constitutional republic in order to “run government like a business” that seems more nearly capitalism.
https://wildhunt.org/2021/10/biden-proclaims-october-11-as-indigenous-peoples-day.html — Biden’s proclamation mentions the contributions of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians, stating that these groups “have built vibrant and diverse cultures — safeguarding land, language, spirit, knowledge, and tradition across the generations.” It goes on to affirm his administration’s commitment to making “respect for Tribal sovereignty and self-governance the cornerstone of Federal Indian policy.” The proclamation also notes the accomplishments of Indigenous communities during the pandemic, including that Indigenous people have one of the highest vaccination rates of any ethnic group. The timing is meant to challenge the colonialist narrative of history taught to American students, namely that American history begins when Christopher Columbus “discovered” the Americas in 1492, and the marginalization of Indigenous people in our own time.“Indigenous Peoples are left in the shadows of Euro-America’s destiny,” says Sarah Shear, assistant professor of Social Studies Education at Penn State University–Altoona, during a keynote speech at the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian, “while the cooperation and conflict model provides justification for the eventual termination of Indigenous Peoples from the American landscape and historical narrative.”—end of wildhunt info–
In the Southern Tier of NYS Columbus Day has been an opportunity to promote commercial interests with a quasi-crack-down on activists attempting to shine light on reality of our history.
https://www.haudenosauneeconfederacy.com/influence-on-democracy/ —While many debate the validity of the claim that the Constitution of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy was a model for the United States of America’s Constitution, much evidence leads us to believe that the U.S. Constitution developed by Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson was indeed influenced by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.—-end of haudenosaunee info–
Attention and celebration of imperialism against Native Americans serves to obscure the FACT that inspiration for the US Constitution seems to have originated from the Haudenosaunee people. In other words, capitalistic hierarchical Establishment assault against freedom and liberty did not end with The Revolutionary War. Joe Biden for whom one did not vote must be applauded for quasi-righting this wrong. It is a first step—https://wbng.com/2021/10/08/biden-is-first-president-to-mark-indigenous-peoples-day-2/ –Biden also issued a proclamation for Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 11, which is established by Congress. The Indigenous Peoples’ Day proclamation states that “for generations, federal policies systematically sought to assimilate and displace Native people and eradicate Native cultures.–end of wbng info–
But that Biden dipped a toe into the stream of sanity needs to be followed with policy that follows.
Currently as we “run government like a business”, the collaboration between politicians and big-money campaign donors is out in the open for all to see. https://popularresistance.org/alec-leaders-boast-about-anti-abortion-anti-trans-bills/ ——–The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a pay-to-play network of conservative state lawmakers and business lobbyists that writes model legislation, claims that it no longer works on social policy. But videos of ALEC-led events, obtained by the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), tell a very different story. At the 40th anniversary meeting of the Council for National Policy (CNP) in May, ALEC leaders boasted about their extensive efforts to advance state legislation to severely restrict access to abortion and limit the rights of trans students, as well as voter suppression bills.–end of popularresistance info–

Assassination is a political murder. The Governor’s medal allowed DeSantis to recognize Rodríguez as a “person who has made an especially meritorious contribution to the interests and citizens of the state, (and) its culture.”He grew up as the only child of a well-to-do provincial Cuban family of Spanish/Basque ancestry. One of his uncles was a minister in the U.S.-supported government of dictator Fulgencio Batista, another was a judge. He spent time at the farm of his uncle where he rode horses and, at age seven, learned to shoot a rifle. At age ten he went off to military school, living with another uncle who was Batista‘s minister of public works in a big house in the expensive Miramar neighborhood of Havana. In seventh grade he left to attend a boarding school in Pennsylvania. His family opposed the July 26th movement even before Batista‘s dictatorship was toppled in 1959 by a popular revolution led by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. They moved to Miami after the revolution.–end of mronline info–
Information offered on C-span several days ago is relevant and places the above story into context—From C-Span–9:20AM—caller–paraphrase–As a Cuban American with dual citizenship in the USA and Cuba, the right to vote in both nations results in a vote cast for socialists in the USA and capitalists in Cuba due to a wish to balance the systems that are askew in each. Our 3 Cuban-American representatives were not born in Cuba but use their identity in election campaigns.
(In FACT use of identity to win elections has reached the level of being ludicrous. Unprincipled characters devoid of policy ideas run for public office on a platform of national, racial, or gender identity. But even worse, the US electorate vote on identity rather than character, honesty and policy. In FACT, our state-run-corporate-owned MSM has openly decided we must vote on personality rather than policy. That our government is corrupt and non-functional isn’t a surprise.)
https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/batista-forced-out-by-castro-led-revolution——The U.S. attitude toward the new revolutionary government soon changed from cautiously suspicious to downright hostile. After Castro nationalized American-owned property, allied himself with the Communist Party and grew friendlier with the Soviet Union, America’s Cold War enemy, the U.S severed diplomatic and economic ties with Cuba and enacted a trade and travel embargo that remains in effect, although some restriction were loosened under the Obama administration. In April 1961, the U.S. launched the Bay of Pigs invasion, an unsuccessful attempt to remove Castro from power. Subsequent covert operations to overthrow Castro, born August 13, 1926, failed and he went on to become one of the world’s longest-ruling heads of state. Fulgencio Batista died in Spain at age 72 on August 6, 1973. In late July 2006, an unwell Fidel Castro temporarily ceded power to his younger brother Raul. Fidel Castro officially stepped down in February 2008; he died on November 25, 2016. –end of history info–
In the USA in 2021 we are living the reality of “running government like a business” which is organized crime. Cuba experienced the same style of governance pre-Castro, and the result was a revolution—–https://www.smithsonianmag.com/travel/mob-havana-cuba-culture-music-book-tj-english-cultural-travel-180960610/ —You write, “It is impossible to tell the story of the Havana Mob without also chronicling the rise of Castro.” How closely were the two linked? They weren’t directly linked. Castro was produced by many social conditions that existed in Cuba. But I think the mob became a symbol for the revolution of exploitation by outside forces, particularly the United States. Part of the narrative of the revolution was that the island was not able to control its own destiny and that all of the most valuable commodities were owned by corporations from the United States. In the eyes of Castro, the mob, the U.S. government, and U.S. corporations were all partners in the exploitation of Cuba.Havana also became a destination for junkets, where politicians could do things they couldn’t in the United States.

https://themobmuseum.org/blog/rise-castro-fall-havana-mob/ –When Fidel Castro, his brother Raul, Che Guevara and 79 other Cuban rebels piled into the 43-foot yacht Granma on November 25, 1956, there was no indication it would transform geopolitics in the Western Hemisphere for decades, or that it would lead to the end of the Mob’s reign in Cuba.–end of themobmuseium info–
“The mob” presumably didn’t function from South America, but rather from the USA. If Castro could identify organized crime, why cannot American politicians?

As one who sees communism and capitalism as 2 sides of the same coin of dictatorship, without a full picture of events hierarchy gets to pose very respectably.
