C-Span offers innumerable speeches from bureaucrats and politicians from the 2 dominant and parallel political Parties,and one such speech was by Pence who seems to be running for President in 2024.  Interesting was a first portion of the speech from Pence on the topic of resources, that he said a Founder had urged Americans to use for the furtherance of our republic.  Not doubting that a Founder may have said this, one was interested in the capitalistic-hierarchical-institutionalized-religious interpretation that followed from Pence.  He turned this statement into our God-given right to use the natural resources for our benefit.  This is a paraphrase but the words “Gov-given right” and “natural resources” are not.  

In other words, the Founder who may have been a Deist as were many of the Founders, according to their own historically documented words, and who may have had in mind such resources as the US Constitution or personal internal fortitude or geographical isolation from capitalistic Europe, was transformed into the position of a Conservative institutionalized religious mouthpiece for Pence.  As James Carville has said, anything goes in political campaigns, apparently including FACTS.  And so an informed electorate needs to pay attention or be led down the primrose path in rose-colored glasses.

Some people find as a slick commercial campaign, the presumption that natural resources were intended by an anthropomorphic God that has endorsed a political Party as odd and nearly unhinged.  And may also promote Climate Change.  This is surely a topic for transparent discussion.

Today, I share with you the next chapter in this important series, co-produced by us, Standing Rock, and the Great Plains Water Alliance on behalf of the entire Oceti Sakowin. This video highlights more of that important trip, including additional details of our meeting with Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and it bottom-lines Standing Rock’s primary message: by bringing our truth to D.C., we can inspire compassion and action.

As a friend of Lakota Law over the years, you’ve helped us immeasurably in our fight to end DAPL. You know the history: beginning with our resistance camps at Standing Rock, the Oceti Sakowin inspired a worldwide movement. You remember when Obama shut the pipeline down in September of 2016 only to have Trump take office the following January and put it on the fast track to completion. You recall my arrest at Last Child’s Camp and my fight for freedom. And you understand the legal battles over the pipeline itself — in which DAPL was ultimately allowed to keep operating despite the fact that a federal judge vacated its permit over environmental concerns, including violations of the National Environmental Policy Act.

To this day, the government has continued to abdicate responsibility by failing to release DAPL’s flawed Environmental Impact Statement for public review, as mandated by the courts. And — even as the Missouri River reaches historically low water levels, which increases the danger of DAPL — neither the oil company nor the government has provided Standing Rock with necessary information about emergency plans should a catastrophic spill occur.

That’s why this trip to the nation’s capital was critical. We were able to communicate our truth to legislators and other allies who can help us create change. By reminding them of the facts, we clear a pathway for compassion and action. So I want to thank you, once again, for your support. Until this pipeline is pulled from our sacred ground, we’ll never stop demanding justice — for the people on the frontlines, for our future generations, and for Unci Maka, our Grandmother Earth.

Howie Hawkins brings up the concept of whether the USA needs the Senate.  Apparently according to some people, the Senate isn’t necessary.  This brings up the blockage from the Senate of many bills that would benefit We The People.  Combined with Citizens United that promotes big-money interest choice of Senators, in which laws are passed that benefit big-money interest rather than We The People, and that We The People support economically, the members of the Senate, this seems a good topic for discussion.
